The truffle pops came out great but when it came time to dip the pops in the chocolate and then the toppings if seemed tht there was just too much chocolate even after letting the excess drip off. The toppings go mixed with the chocolate and it wa not very clean looking.
Help!!! What did I do wrong?.

I made these after watching the episode that aired and the pops exceeded all expectations. My friends loved these as well. I am going to try some variations for Xmas treats. I like the idea of changing the flavor added and will try a little peppermint.

To the question what amount of chocolate do you use 8oz or 12oz...you have to use both. The first amount is for the actual balls and the second is for the chocolate coating!!

recipe calls for 8oz choc bits (1 1/2 cups, but, 1 1/2 cups is 12 0z. So what do I use 8 oz or 12? Please respond ASAP as I'd like to make these for Thanksgiving. Thanks.

I made these for my family members for Halloween to take home. I did exactly like the recipe says and they turned out great!! But they were really messy and some melted quickly. I used Toothpicks to help roll the balls into the extra chocolate. For toppings I used Sprinkles, M&M's, Heath, and rotated them out. My family loved them & they go great with Coffee in the morning!! Thanks Giada!! P.S. This would be a fun recipe to get the kids involved with what child doesn't love getting messy in the kitchen? :

Overall this was easy to make and was a hit with my guests, but I had a really hard time with dipping the pops in the melted chocolate. My melted chocolate wasn't smooth enough to make a nice coating on the pops and wound up being more like a thick coating. I used nestle chips, maybe next time i'll try ghirardelli and see if it melts smoother.

These were gone in an instant. I too used the semi sweet chips but also omitted the cinnamon and added a couple of drops of orange extract to get a hit of orange flavor. I am trying mint next time! They were awesome! When you add extract, you want to be careful with the types of topping you put on. I left some plain and dusted some with cocoa powder.

These are sooo good and fun!! Im not a fan of bitter chocolate or dark chocolate so i used semi sweet chocolate on the ganache and milk chocolate on the dip part. It is awesome!! The semi sweet is just bitter enough with the sweetness of the milk chocolate that it isnt to bitter but not to sweet!! I LOVE THEM!! I took them to work and they were a hit!!
