its hard to please me when it comes to turkey. I must say... you HAVE to add the gremolata; otherwise, it is a totally different taste. Turkey is usually dry, but everyone said this was moist. I was not "blown away" but i like it. I'm giving it 4 stars b/c everyone loved it and i'm not a good critic for turkey.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this recipe! The turkey osso buco was succulent and delicious. The Gremolata really made the dish kick. We had the best thanksgiving dinner yet! To accompany this meal, I made Alton Brown's Sweet Corn Bread Pudding, Sandra Lee's French Cut Green Beans & Early Peas in Cognac Cream with Bacon, Tyler's Whipped Sweet Potatoes and Banana with Honey & Pecan Crumble and Honey Baked Ham with Pineapple & Orange Marmalade glaze. Every taste harmonized so beautifully.

    I love you, Food Network!

Enjoyed this thoroughly! Borrowed a suggestion from
another reviewer to add a few more vegetables, and used
a combination of bone-in turkey thighs and chicken breasts,
which worked beautifully. Lightly flavoured but very satisfying; served it over linguini. Mmm!

This recipe is easy and the sauce is quite tasty. I only used turkey thighs. The Gremolata adds just the right touch of freshness.

Made this on a rainy Saturday afternoon perfect. Turkey thighs were on sale at the local grocery store which made a very inexpensive hearty meal. I did not make the Gremolata which we didn't seem to miss at all basically because I didn't have any fresh parsley on hand. After the 2 hours of cooking I removed the thighs covered with foil and returned to the cooling oven. I thickened the sauce with alittle cornstarch and added about a tablespoon of fresh rough, chopped of sage, just couldn't see turkey without sage. Then added about 2 cups of cooked penne pasta. Let the pasta simmer in the sauce 5 minutes or so. Removed the skins from the thighs removed the bones and broke up alittle then returned to the pan. Delicious *_*, will make again and again.

P.S. to any fellow campers this meal would work great in a dutch oven over an open fire on a lazy day in the woods.

Although the cook time for this meal is 2hrs the actual prep time is minimal and quite simple, great for a lazy Sunday meal. Instead of turkey I used chicken thighs and drum sticks and it came out great. The meat was so tender it instantly fell off the bone.

The Gremolata adds a perfect amount of zest and freshness to a meal that is slow cooked, its def necessary. I also made rice and a apple sauce to go along with it but next time I might try potato gratin, the combination of the two might make me melt into my chair.

    Thanks Giada

All those rave reviews are right. This was fantastic. I made it with a combination of turkey tenderloins, thighs and bone-in chicken breasts. Really fabulous! A few thoughts:

Next time I would use all boneless poultry, or at least take the skin off. It would have been nice not to have to pick through the wonderful vegetable sauce to remove bones. I used double the vegetables called for, and pretty much doubled everything. Leftovers made a nice shepard's pie: layer the turkey pieces (de-boned and then the vegetables and sauce, any leftover gremolata, and then mashed potatoes. I served the original dish with mashed potatoes so I had some to work with. And definitely don't skip the gremolata - it was a integral part of why this meal worked so well.

Would be somewhat quicker to prepare if the turkey was prepped ahead of time, and the vegetables cut up in advance.

Served with mashed potatoes and pumpkin bread. Rave reviews from family and company. Made the house smell great!

I poured enough liquid to cover 2/3 of the turkey but it was too much and the liquid didn't evaporate enough. Having too much liquid didn't concentrate the flavors. I still rated it a 4 because I think it would taste better with less liquid.
