I found buying that much extra olive oil a little expensive, but I did it anyway. I've been baking for years but found the bow ties tedious to make and if you are making many of them they are just too time consuming and expensive. I'd just as soon make other cookies/fritters than these, not her best effort.

These are great! I started out trying to tie bow ties, but learned very quickly how hard this is. I suggest to make a "ribbon", like the popular AIDS, breast cancer, etc., ribbons, it's much easier and look just as good. Either way they taste great!!!

I thought this was a neat and easy thing to make. Boy, was I wrong. She made it look so easy to tie the knots. It wasn't. I couldn't get the knots right and it would break.

My mother has made this dessert for as long as I have been alive. Her recipe came from an old Italian church cookbook. I tried this recipe and although ok, the other recipe is by far better. My father was greek, and their version is the same except they top the thepeles with cinnamon, honey and finely chopped walnuts. I prefer it over the powdered sugar.....

My mom used to make these years ago, and I haven't had them in a long time. Thank you Giada for bringing back some wonderful memories for me. These are light , crispy and delicious. They are a welcome addition to my holiday table. Buon Natale e mille grazie Giada!
