    I added:
    Juice of 1 lime
1 15 oz can of diced tomatoes
    1 tablespoon tomato paste
    2-4 slices of jalapeno pepper
    1 tablespoon cayenne pepper

So I know this pretty much changes the taste of Giada's recipe, but it still came out delicious! My BF has been sick and this was one of the first meals he really enjoyed.
The lime really gave a kick and the jalapenos added spice but didnt overwhelm it at all. Def will make again!

If I make this recipe again, I'll add much less cumin. It is just a little bitter tasting - I even wondered if I had burnt the garlic, but I didn't. I did add spinach rather than chard. Was the spinach bitter maybe? I also roasted a chicken breast and shredded it into the chilli rather than using ground chicken (store was out of ground chicken when I went. The roasted chicken was delicious! Other than that, I followed the recipe fairly religiously, but I just kept getting too much of a taste of cumin. Overdone. So I added sugar and salt and parm cheese and let it set for a few hours and eventually it tasted pretty good. I didn't add pepper flakes, but may add it later to a second heating since I have so much chilli. Maybe my Cumin was old? I sure don't know, but this chilli was just too ... "cumin-y?" I think I need a do-over. :-

Just made this for dinner and it was so good. I am on a very strict diet and had to omit the flour and corn, but the dish was still wonderful. I would advise anyone who thinks the recipe is bland to go a little heavier on the seasoning. I checked the flavor after the chicken was done, again after the swiss chard began to wilt and again once more when the soup was almost done. I think with all the green veggies the recipe just may need a little more salt. Overall, I loved it and will totally make it again.

Thanks Giada! This is a great chili with great flavor. Very easy! Also, it is a good chicken chili base if you want to play with the ingredients or add different flavors and spice.

Our neighbor brought us some over one night. My husband didn't even want to try it, because it doesn't look appetizing. But, once I started heating it up and he smelled it, I couldn't keep him away from the pot. We've made it numerous times since. If you like chili without the heat, this is a great recipe. We like a little more spice, so we just increase the crushed red pepper a little. Other than that, I don't change a thing.

I enjoyed this recipe because of thew low fat content. For those that feel something is missing! Never made a chili recipe without a good dash of Worcestershire and low sodium Tamari soy sauce. That did the trick for me.

This is a great chili. I am not a red bean chili person so I was leary about trying this one, but it was great. I used Frozen/ thawed and drained Spinach in place of the Chard. It worked well. Yum yum.. this is a repeated meal I will be sure to make again! Thanks Giada
