I've been making this french toast since 2008! It's my go to french toast, and everyone that eats it loves it! Yum-O!

Made this french toast this morning (New Years Day 2012. My son, husband and I loved it. The changes I made 1didn't have challah bread so I used french bread. 2Added 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. I didn't make the butter, no time and no bourbon. I will make it next time as this is the only way I will be making french toast from now on. It is wonderful. It sounds like a lot of work, but it is so easy and tastes AWESOME.

I made a special trip to Cafe Nola while visiting Seattle when I saw the french toast Giada raved about. It was the best french toast, if not one of my favorite breakfast ever! I was so happy to see the recipe online. I've made the recipe many times. I like the contrast of the salty bacon with the sweetness of the french toast. Try it! You wont be disappointed.

I used a teaspoon of orange extract instead of the orange zest and it was the best french toast I've ever had. I used regular maple syrup and I think it complemented it very well. Also, I wasn't able to find challah bread so I just used thick white bread. It had just a hint of orange and now I don't think I can go back to regular french toast.

I highly recommend this recipe over the other french toast recipes. It is quite easy to make and the toast just melts in your mouth. The orange zest adds an excellent flavor.

Challah bread and orange zest. A welcome treat. Made my own Challah bread and followed the recipe. Quite frankly, if you wanted to omit the Orange Bourbon Butter, the French Toast itself stands well on its own with merely good maple syrup. Enjoy everyone!!!
