Roasting Broccoli is the only way to go. It give the broccoli a wonderful nutty flavor and you don't lose the texture like steaming. I usually just use olive oil, salt and pepper with a little lemon at the end but Altons recipe add a nice touch with the cheese and panko. I also don't cook this by time I watch it and when the flowers look cooked but not yet burned that is when I pull them. Asparagus cooked this way is fantastic also

I did not find this to be anything special. I wish I did, because the reviews were excellent. For me, this was lacking something that would have turned it from a nice alternative to steamed broccoli to something incredibly delicious that would make me want to make it again. I might make it again, but if I do, I will probably add more flavors (salt, cheese, lemon, thyme, etc.

This is my husband and my favorite broccoli side dish! I only used to steam broccoli before (Alton's method of stems as the bed for the florets. The steaming method is wonderful but nothing compares to this. It is one of Alton's several dishes that are easy to change up according to preference. I think I will always cook broccoli this way and if I don't I will hear from the hubby. Thanks for making another sensational dish Alton. You are a genius and most of my meals are either your recipes or cooking methods I have learned from you. I wouldn't have even considered cooking if it wasn't for your recipes.

Made it exactly as recipe said, but forgot to add the cheese and...holy cow! The garlic flavor was really strong. Though I love garlic, in this recipe it doesn't really "cook" to mellow the flavor; maybe the cheese was supposed to do that! My fault! The broccoli came out well done and had a nice flavor, but I'd cut it to one clove next time.

I really like broccoli, and this recipe is now one of my favs. I fixed it exactly as Alton said and it was delicious, easy and quick to make! Would definitely make it for company too. And, I had no idea that I would like the stalk! Delish! Thanks Alton!

Roasting any kind of veggie is awesome and this was definitely very good. There was just the right amount of bread crumbs and I used shredded mozarella I had on hand and it was very good.

Broccoli from the farmer's market and this recipe resulted in the best broccoli I've ever eaten. My wife hates broccoli; she loved this. There's a saltiness to it that nicely compliments the sweetness of the broccoli. Delicious.

This recipe is simple and delicious! I have 2 toddlers and they cannot get enough of this broccoli! I couldn't believe the success the first time I made it, I had to double it the next time I made it! Goes great with any entree. i always make it with Parmesean cheese never with cheddar.
