AB's scone recipe came out perfect on my first try. I was a bit sceptical when trying to tri-fold the incredibly sticky dough (think "Aliens" egg maturation chamber - I almost couldn't escape. Upon later review of "I'm Just Here For More Food", I decided more flour during folding was the trick (on the parchment paper and the top of the dough. The flavor and texture are exactly what I was looking for.

I made these last night and they turned out really well. Perhaps they didn't quite live up to the hype of these reviews but they are good nontheless. I prefer my scones to have a bit more sweetness so I think I'd add more sugar next time. The previous posters mentioned brushing the tops with milk and sugar which gave it a nice crunchy top.

In addition to these scones, I also made Alton's lemon curd which is out of this world good.

These were a hit in the Tea house where I made them. I did not have time to roll out so made them drop instead of rolled out and cut. I do not think it really harmed the final product. I used blueberries because it was what I had on hand. This AB recipe has replaced my former scone recipe!

I ran out of eggs so couldn't do a wash on top to give them a golden color, but they were still good. In addition to the cranberries I added vanilla and almond extracts, chocolate chips and almonds. Very good with coffee.

Albeit lighter than any scone I've tried or made, these are wonderful. DO add more sugar, and make sure everything is well mixed, otherwise they'll taste like raw flour/baking powder. Within 24 hours I made three batches for my family. Great with fresh clotted cream (beat 1 cup whipping cream until it's "almost" butter and raspberry jam.

I cut these into triangle shapes and had 8 nice sized scones. They were really good, and really easy to make. I only wished I had used more fruit in them, or thrown in some chocolate chips or something. My fault. Two big handfuls of fruit would be better.

I had tried many scone recipes and this is the best recipe. Scones are flaky, moist, just the way I like them. I add two extra tablespoons of sugar and zest of one lemon when I used dried fruit. It is just delicious!
