This recipe was easy to follow, and the outcome was fabulous. Usually when I pull yorshire out of the oven it drops like a pancake, but with this recipe it stayed puffed up even after I put gravy on it. I will definitely make it again. Thanks Alton

Yorkshire pudding always looked fancy and complicated, and I have enough daunting tasks on my Christmas menu without risking a poor outcome. But, Alton made this look so easy that I had to try it since I was making a beef roast for Christmas. Well, I threw this pudding together when my roast came out of the oven and popped it in while the roast rested. It was the perfect, quintessential, elegant, surprise of a side dish on my Christmas table! Everyone was surprised by the texture and taste, and found it a wonderful change from the traditional sides. It was perfect with my gravy (because I had enough drippings for both. I will be making this one again and may experiment with the individual serviings. Like others, I would recommend it with any beef dish as long as you have the drippings to make it.

Leaving the Royal household & unpacking, I was delited to find at least one (1 YP recipe that was close to the way H.R.H Q.E.II. DEMANDS it.You got the room temp correct, 4 eggs, BUT, it's 1/2 Cup Cream, 1/2 Cup whole milk, pinch of Kosher Salt, Baking Power & Soda. That said, in a mixing bowl, add ONE (! Egg at a time, using a hand electrial mixer, After fully mixing 1st egg, 2nd & on. When batter is finished, Cover with a WET Towel and place in frige for 20-30 minutes.
Not to sound rude, but the trick to YP is PATIENCE!! The end result is well worth it !!.
    Cheers!

Can people NOT post bad ratings for stupid reasons like holiday cookies not being "original enough" or because they can't find the right recipe? If you've made the recipe, rate the resulting product accordingly! I usually skip over recipes with low ratings but sometimes read them to find out the complaints and its really annoying to find that people discredit the recipe when THEY HAVE NOT TRIED IT!!!!!

Anywho, I thought this recipe was amazing! Thanks Alton, you're my fav!

Since I didn't have a nonstick cupcake pan or Yorkshire pudding tin, this recipe was perfect! Easy, delicious, a little salty,... and it didn't dirty yet another pan. Mmmmm... we loved it.

My husband and i made BOTH the Prime Rib AND yorkshire pudding. I was a huge fan of the prime rib, but i have to say, the Yorkshire Pudding was the BEST part of the meal. It was nice and crisp and full of flavor. Cant wait to make again!

I just saw this episode for the first time last night, and tried the recipe today.
My husband's grandfather was British, so early on I learned how to make a standing prime rib roast and yorkshire pudding. It's such a simple side dish to make, yet goes so beautifully with the meat. I can't often afford a standing rib, but I make the pudding often whenever I cook a chuck roast. My pudding has always been tasty, but for some reason has never risen very high. I saw that Alton whipped his up in the blender. Maybe that was part of my problem-I had always just mixed it up by hand. I guess whipping it in the blender makes a big difference, because this time it turned out beautifully- nice and puffy and golden- it even browned better for some reason.

Here's a neat little cheat I came up with if you want the pudding but don't have time to cook a roast. I got some rib eye steaks on sale that had some nice big pieces of fat in the center of the steak. I removed these and rendered them down to get the fatty drippings, then broiled the steaks as soon as the pudding came out. Not exactly prime rib in the traditional sense but stil tasty!
Kudos to Alton for making my pudding better!

To "Anonymous": This is a recipe for Yorkshire pudding from a show about making popover batter. The roast beef is, as Alton would say, "another show." Do a search of Alton's recipes for "rib roast" and you will find an excellent one.

As for this recipe, the pudding is light and crisp, the perfect acompanyment for standing rib, although few Americans even know about it.

You will have a much lighter Yorkshire Pudding if you did half milk and half water
