I thought the cake was great. I've never had Paula's version; it has to be absolutely awesome!! I'm doing the Points Plus thing with Weight Watchers and cannot dare try it. I actually used fat free buttermilk in the cake and vanilla bean in the filling. I'll make it chocolate next time. I am a little confused on the serving size. At places it says serves 4 and others 16 servings (huge difference when counting points So...is the nutritional info based on 1/4 or 1/16 of the 9 X 9 pan?

Ok, first of all I used the recipe in Bobby's new book, which I just bought three days ago. It is slightly different from this recipe. At first, this recipe did not seem to be working at all. I had a hard time getting the cake to spread in the pan. I pushed forward anyway. This cake came out fabulous when it was done. I only had to bake about 35 mins. It's still even a little bit on the sweet side. The original cake is way over the top for me. I'm very happy with this. Can't wait to try some other made over recipes.

This cake is okay but not comparable to the original gooey cake at all. I will continue to make the original recipe and try very hard to limit myself to one piece at a time!

Does NOT compare to the original! AT ALL! I absolutely adore Gooey Butter Cake- I make it once a year and I eagerly look forward to it. However, this year, I'm trying to eat healthier so when I saw this lightened up version I decided to try it. It was a bust. It tastes ok, kind of like a yellow pound cake with a tart cream cheese topping. But it does not taste like gooey butter cake at all. I am throwing this recipe out. Next time I'll be making the original (I'll just eat less of it to be healthier!. Not worth the time or the calories.

The ingredients in this cake were so much more healthy. I haved looked at other recipes and found they were asking for 1 stick or more of butter. This only requires 1 tablespoon of butter. So easy to make and I brought it to my neighbors and they loved it !! I love the fact that Bobby Dean is making the recipes more healthy.

Great. I want to thank Bobby for introducing me to greek yogurt in recipes to make it more healthy. I've starting using greek yogurt in many of my dishes and no one can tell the difference. This gooey butter cake is just one of the recipes that I've changed from the original. Thanks Bobby!

Just finished a slice. Followed the recipe to the letter. It is very good. Yes, the cake batter is very thick when it goes into the baking dish, but it rises and becomes a very moist bottom layer for the cream cheese topping. Very reminiscent of a "chess cake" recipe of my family.

I love all of Bobby's new recipes, I just wish he would give the per serving totals, I need to keep track of my carb and fat content and hate trying to figure it from a recipe.

very good. It is a very thick batter, but bakes up very chewy and good.

I tried this cake for a meeting at work. Not happy at all! only a 1/2 cup buttermilk make the cake mixture like cement! I had to add more just to get it to mix, it never did turn out. Bummer because it sounded really good.
