Having been to Greece and had the original Greek Yogurt.... Buy (my favorite is Mountain High Yogurt, strain it through a cheesecloth for at least 12 hours in the fridge. It will be just like the yogurt in Greece. Top with a drizzle of honey and some chopped nuts....almonds or walnuts. Just like I've had in Greece.

I was expecting a little more than "buy yogurt and drain it". Very disappointed! An actual "how to make yogurt from scratch" would be nice!

Great and cheaper way to make Greek yogurt! Don't waste your money on coffee filters or fancy toys to strain the yogurt, paper towels in a colander over a bowl works just fine. Like frozen yogurt? Strain for only 2 hours. Add some sugar (or splenda, corn syrup (or not, and pureed fruit of your choice. I use an electric ice cream maker. Yum!

Make sure to always use organic yogurt when making greek yogurt. Another great way to use the greek yogurt is to use it in place of where you would use ricotta cheese. Please visit my blog for more healthy living tips and recipes at Coffey's Place.

I put a couple of tablespoons in my oatmeal and it's really good and creamy. Donvier makes an excellent yogurt strainer. You can order it on Amazon and takes a whole 32 oz. container of yogurt.

The Perfect Breakfast.
As a diabetic, and a man who doersn't like the heavy feeling I get from most morning fare, I usually skip the first meal of the day.
I tried this recipe on Monday, and have had it every morning this week. I've added things like grain cereals and nuts to vary it a little. Great healthy start to the day.

Great way to make thicker Greek-style yogurt. Is there a recipe for the accompanying almond cookie?
