I really liked the flavor of the sandwich overall. I think next time though, I will use a regular tomato instead of green. I'm just not a big fan of the green. Other than that, it was a great twist on an old favorite.

I saw this episode last night. I was craving it till I was able to make it for lunch today. I modified it a tad to fit some ingredients I like such as spinach instead of watercress, and real bacon bits that I already had at home. I also used Italian loaf bread and sliced it myself. In watching the episode, a comment was made about the tomato not being easy to bite into. I precooked a couple slices for a couple minutes in a little butter. Then I assembled the whole thing and grilled it in the skillet. Oh, I also took an ingredient from the "other" sammy....I made basalmic mayo and put it on Bobby's sammy. All I can say is WOW. It was a fabulous sandwich! Thanks to Bobby and this show that gives me some new and inventive food ideas!

Oh man, I hate to see the challengees loose the throw downs! Stinky and Connie looked so crushed when Bobby was announced the winner.. and you have to admit, there's something kinda creepy about fooling them into thinking they were gonna be on a FoodNetwork special highlighting their specialty, only to have Bobby Flay of all people come out from behind and make something better.. Anyhow, having said all that, I'm addicted to the show. LOL.. we love to make the winning throw down recipes, and this one was no exception.. this sandwich is OUTSTANDING! The flavors just explode in your mouth! I felt a *little* guilty splurging on this in such an awful economy with so many people out of work, but we're talking grilled cheese, so there you go.. I highly recommend this sandwich! Oh yeah, I used up the rest of the package of watercress making Emeril's 'Potato and Watercress Soup' posted on this sight. It was a great combo with this sandwich, and a nice way to get rid of the leftover watercress, which I almost never use otherwise.

Saw this on TV, today, and it made me so hungry that I ran out to the store to grab the ingredients. There were no green tomatoes so I chose a not-so-ripe one. I find watercress too slimy when cooked so I got rocket. The applewood smoked bacon I found was too thick for my taste, (doesn't crisp up enough. I did cook the bacon in the oven, but that usually produces very crisp bacon, and it does ease assembly.

Still, the sandwich was absolutely delicious. Served it with a greek salad. I was able to fit 4 sandwiches in my electric skillet which made it possible to serve 4 hot out of the pan. (I used a sheet of aluminum foil to tent them. I do think that avocado would be a wonderful addition and will probably try that next time. I'll also try the Whole Foods double-smoked bacon.

The leftovers are going in my son's lunch on Monday!

My wife and I tried this sandwich tonight and we were surprised how the brie and goat cheese blended together! The green tomato adds a nice crunch and the crumbly bacon keeps it all real. I recommend this to any cheese lover! Not mentioned in the recipe: both sandwiches were 'bowled' or covered for a few minutes to speed the melting process.

Next time I'll try brie and blue cheese and see what happens!

This was an interesting dish...but one that left the taste-buds battered. I thought the sandwich's flavor was off. Maybe I just didn't like the brie and goat cheese. No-one in the family would go beyond two bites. This is one Bobby Flay creation that should be taken back to the drawing board.
