This was so tasty! I have always wanted to try horchata and this was a great first run. I held off on 1 cup of water to taste first and thought it was just perfect and not too concentrated after only 5 cups of water total. I guess that leaves room for dilution from ice too. I put in 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon vs a half o stick. It is like liquid rice pudding and I am a big fan of rice pudding! Yum!

I tried this drink for one of my parties. Two ladies said it was like the way their mom made it.

So I've always LOVED Horchata, but never knew how to make it. This recipe was soooo easy and so wonderfully yummy! One thing I'd like to add for those who also might be 1st timers at making Horchata, when you add the 1 cup of rice it is raw, not cooked. I was totally confused on that and I actually had to google other recipes which called for raw rice. So once its all blended up it is fabulous and really is an awesome drink! Also, I didnt have a cinnamon stick so I just added ground cinnamon in the water and rice while it was soaking...still it was PERFECT!

This is by far the best Horchata drink i have had yet!! I have had lots of different versions of horchata and this one is the best!! Make sure you blend it with the cinnamon stick in, so that you get the great cinnamon kick that belongs in it!! It's even better then the homemade drinks in mexico!! And its alot quicker to make this version then the traditianal version, which takes 1-2 hours to make!! Try it with Rum!! Makes a great adult drink!!

Don't forget to take out the cinnamon stick before blending! You can always add it back in afterwards for decor or added flavor etc.
