Made this for a small dinner party and everyone loved it! The chicken stayed moist and was very flavorful. Great recipe as-is. The only thing I did differently was to take the remaining liquid and thickened it a little bit to make a tasty sauce.

This is just such a fun twist to a chicken dish. lol. After it aired, I actually went out to the cook store and purchased an upright chicken holder, just so I can make this dish. FUN STUFF AND DELICIOUS....Hooraaahhh!

I have made this multiple times - in the oven, on the grill. It is always a hit. As per usual, we cut the salt in half. When doing it on the grill we use a slightly lower temperature in order to cook the bacon a bit more slowly.

I have done this chicken twice on the grill.....fabulous both times!! The bacon gives it a great flovor and works well with all the other spices in the recipe.. Thanks Guy for a fabulous family favorite!!!!!!

Used a 5 pound bird on a beer can chicken stand from williams sanoma. between 350-400 degrees for 2 hours. rested about 20-30 minutes.

OMG!!!! What a chicken!!!! Followed the recipe, except for the bacon, this chicken didn't even need the WOW OF THE BACON ON TOP!!! Did a 5 1/2 lb whole chicken on the grill, standing chicken up straight on the beer can. Approx 1 1/2 hours cooking time (checking every 1/2 hour and rotated when necessary for hot spots on the BBQ .Pulled bird off the grill when both sides were dark and crusty. Let bird rest for 1/2 hour covered in aluminum foil in the kitchen before serving.

I couldn't believe how easy this was...especially with how delicious it turned out. The whole family enjoyed it and the kids thought it was great that he had a beer can "you-know-where"! Great way to get a picky chicken eater to eat chicken!

My boyfriend fell in love with me all over again after I made him this awesome and easy chicken! The only thing that I did different is that I left the bacon out. Next time I make this, I will definately try it with the bacon. Thanks for the great flavors, you never fail me Guy!
