  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
Directions

In a medium sauce pot, bring water to a boil and add 1 teaspoon salt. Add green beans and blanch for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from water and immediately place in an ice water bath.

In a medium bowl, mix all dry ingredients, including the 2 teaspoons sea salt, thoroughly. Toss green beans in mixture. In a large saute pan, add oil and heat to almost smoking. Add green beans and cook until spices begin to blacken, approximately 2 minutes. When done, add butter, toss, place on plate, and garnish with Parmesan.

This was just plain lousy and a total waste of beautiful green beans from the farmer's market. item not reviewed by moderator and published
These are SOOOO good and addicting! I made these tonight and told my husband he better hurry home before their all gone! I'm gonna try this blackening seasoning on other things as well. VERY GOOD item not reviewed by moderator and published
Huge hit! Everyone loved it. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made them last year for thanksgiving. everyone loved them. i didnt even get a chance to eat more than 2 myself. so that being said, they'd all asked me to do them again this year. and so i will. delish! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Very Good! I lightened up on the Cayenne so it still has heat but not overwhelming the other flavors. Seriously better than french fries. YUM. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This was really good. You mix up a batch of this spice combination. You do not use it all at once. I added a bit more salt to my batch. It was wonderful!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I think they were good, but way too much in the spice department. Next time I make them I will either use more green beans or make less of the spice mixture. My husband liked them so I will make them again! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This dish was awesome!!! The comments about being overseasoned and too salty have some merit, but overall, everyone enjoyed these beans at our house. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I wanted to love this dish. Way too much seasoning for 3 cups of beans. The spice was overpowering and I love blackening spices. I didn't watch the video until after I made them and I agree with other comments, that Guy's dish had way less spices on his beans. I might try it again, but use about 1/4 of the spices. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I loved these beans right away, however, my husband at first said "you don't need to make these again" by the time dinner was over he had changed his mind . He said " these are addictive, I can't stop eating them." I definitely will be making these many more times. Thx Guy item not reviewed by moderator and published
this was the best recipe I have ever including green beans. the seasoning used a was perfect mixture of flavor for a eventful meal. item not reviewed by moderator and published
The whole family loved this I keep a baggy full to use on all kinds of beans not just greeen beans! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Double Yum! My 16 year old hates vegetables and always has. I almost fell over when she said "these beans are great" and asked for more. The best beans ever! The spice combo is great I cant wait to use it again. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I tried this recipe today but found it a little too salty. Since salt is included already in many spices, next time I will leave out the sea salt. I did eat it all anyways! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is my absolute favorite recipe for green beans! I have made it 3 or 4 times in the past month and I am definitely not sick of it! The combination of spices go so well together.. & yes you need to have a taste for spicy food to enjoy it.. item not reviewed by moderator and published
GREAT!!! If you like, blacken, spicy tons of flavor, this is for you. If you have more of a bland plain taste(not that that is bad), dont try it. I will use the spice and try it on roasted corn and other veggies. item not reviewed by moderator and published
i loved these, and i'm not a fan of green beans in general. the spice mix is tasty, and the recipe makes plenty of it, so there is lots left over for other uses. it's great as a steak rub. item not reviewed by moderator and published
These beans were to spices and to much spice for 3 cups green beans. I was very disappointed and will not make these again. item not reviewed by moderator and published
After reading the reviews, I was super excited to make these. I love spicy, and I love green beans, but it just did not work for me. They weren't terrible, but they weren't great either. I won't be making these again. item not reviewed by moderator and published
The mixture of spices in this dish are perfect. It was quick and easy and best of all gave a new kick to a basic side dish item not reviewed by moderator and published
I have eaten so many green beans in my life and this recipe gets me back in the mood to eat them. Full-proof and great flavor! item not reviewed by moderator and published
It was easy and tastes great!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
What a great change of pace this recipe is. If you are hesitating in any way rethink trying this. What a great way to make green beans go to a whole different level. Thanks Guy! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made these the other night and we could not get enough!! The spices are just right if you like spicy. Personally, I love spicy so it was perfect! I would have cooked the beans a little more than 3 minutes at first though, but only by another minute or so. They were al dente, but a little too al dente. Didn't matter though, we still ate them all up!! A must make recipe here!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I had green beans like these at a restaurant outside Woodstock NY and they were great! This recipe equals that taste. They go great as an appetizer too with a hot dipping mustard. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Oh my goodness! My daughter made this receipe for a work function and saved some for me. I asked for seconds! This will be the only way I make green beans from now on! Way to go Guy! You rock! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I'm admittedly not a huge veggie fan, but these were very nice. I unfortunately did not have any chili powder, but it still tasted great. I will definately be making these again. item not reviewed by moderator and published
These are the best green beans ever!!!! The spices are just right. Even my younger kids loved them. Will definitly keep making them!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I love these! It's a great recipe if you are bored with plain vegetables. I recommend sticking to the recipe though; One time, i didnt have a few ingredients and I decided to add curry powder. That made the green beans way to spicy! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Like some other reviewers, I found these too spicy and salty when I used the amount of spices in the recipe. Check the ingredients in your chili powder; if it already has salt in it, cut way back on the added salt. Next time I'll cut back on the cayenne too. I also made them healthier by cutting out the butter at the end. There was enough olive oil still on the beans for the Parmesan cheese to stick. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I only used 1/2 of the spices due to a sensitive dinner guest. We all loved them!! Will make again! item not reviewed by moderator and published
If you toss the beans in the spice mixture wet they have way more of the spice on them than his do in the picture, I would suggest patting them dry with a paper towel before putting them in the spices. They werent bad at all just not great. We will not have these again. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I agree with several of the comments - it is way too spicy, and I love hot food. In the photo of the dish, Guy must have used less than 10% of the spice the recipe calls for because there's just not that much on it on the beans. Great flavors, but I suggest using the spice mixture very sparingly on the beans. item not reviewed by moderator and published
My family loved these fresh green beans. It was easy and tastes great!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
These have to be the best green beans ever. Thank you Next time you come through Reno, check out the Coney Island Bar, 2644 Prater Way, Sparks. ( Becomes East Fourth St, in Reno) item not reviewed by moderator and published
Made these one night with salmon steaks for my husband.. While I was making the green beans they definitely did not look the best but when my husband ate them he couldnt believe how good they were.. I didnt have cayenne pepper so I left that out and all I had was mexican chili powder... but they still tasted amazing :) item not reviewed by moderator and published
absolutely fantastic, marvelicio, superb!! however if you have a mild tongue, stay away, this recepie is great for spice lovers item not reviewed by moderator and published
I just made these, and I wasn't impressed. They weren't terrible, but they weren't great either. I won't be making these again. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I cut the seasoning in half and still thought they were wonderfully spicy and we like hot food. However, the recipe is a "keeper". Next time I'll try the crunchy onion idea as that sounds like a great addition. item not reviewed by moderator and published
These were excellent. I followed the recipe, but added crunchy fried onions. It was an excellent compliment. Thanks Guy! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I probably won't make it again. I think itwas too spicy (I used another blackening blend, that may have been the problem, though)! I will have to tweek it some before I make it again, but that's doubtful. item not reviewed by moderator and published
These beans were truly terrible. Easy to make, but virtually impossible to eat due to overflavoring and way too much heat. The excessive use of spices overwhelmed any green bean flavor. Possibly the worst use of vegetables that I have ever encountered. item not reviewed by moderator and published
i didn't measure any of the ingredients so that could account for it, but i thought they were way to salty. I will make them again with less salt next time item not reviewed by moderator and published
My family always ends up throwing away more green beans than they've eaten - these, however, were fought over! Outstanding! I toned down the heat some; the butter and the parm. were incredible! A MUST TRY!!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made this tonight and they were really, really great. item not reviewed by moderator and published
These are outstanding! My family loved them, and it is easy to tone down the heat for my younger kids. item not reviewed by moderator and published

I love to cook/eat blackened dishes, and this recipe is an excellent way to use it in a meal when you're going a different direction with meat or your meal is meatless. The grated Parmesan was a nice addition, one I had never thought of before when blackening. Delicious! item not reviewed by moderator and published
