I was really excited to try this recipe. It looked delicious and easy as Guy prepared it on TV. However, the truth of the matter is, the ingredients add up to an expensive meal that took a long time to prepare.
I loved the roasted vegetables and will definately use that again when making my own sheppards pie. However, the cheese was expensive and too strong. The sausage (even though I used less than called for was overwhelming as well. Between the roasting time and the bake time plus prep, this recipe took over 2 hrs to make.
My family was less than impressed. Next time I will keep it simple and call it a day. I will give a shout out to the brussel sprouts. Easy, delicious and my whole family ate them without complaint! Definately worth doing.

This recipe was excellent. I did the whole thing in a dutch oven (just bought a La Crussett 9 1/2 quart and had to try it and make a double dose. Outstanding flavor. I'll probably add a bit more cheese next time and maybe mix in some parm as well. Brussel sprouts and bacon next!!!!
I also just bought tix to see Guy's road show in November in CT and cannot wait.

Watching you prepare this dish today, I knew I had to make it for my guy! Roasting the vegetables and garlic gave us just a hint of what was to come!! Easy, hearty and ono-licious [delicious - groke-da-mouth] dish. The brussel sprouts will be my next recipe to make for Kala - it's his all time favorite vegetable - a New York thing.
