Like most of the reviews it took me two hours to finish this meal start to finish.
I did remove the skin and most of the fat, as well as seasoned the chicken before browning. I also thoroughly seasoned the potatoes.
I noticed the recipe and his demonstration are different; on the show he does different steps and more technique.

I do believe now that I've done it once I can prep better and time myself accordingly. The biggest hassle is the cutting of the veggies and of course cleaning the thighs.
I did without the cheese and tomatoes and still got rave reviews.
Bottom line if you love hash browns this addition of chickien is delicious.
and the beer and lime deglaze added great flavor. Will make this recipe again

I used a half of a rotissiere chicken in this instead and it turned out excellent! Still took awhile to make but definitely worth it. Ton's of leftovers (could have served 8 that microwaved well. I can see a big dish of this being a big hit at a tailgate party!

Well, this recipe definitely is NOT one of those things that just ain't worth the hassle. It was some work/mess putting this together, but after completed--SOOOOoooOOO worth it. (I think the flour/butter/milk ratio isn't correct for the queso, but I figured it out. I used chipotle peppers instead of the habanero just 'cause that's what I had. You have to get a li'l of EVERYTHING on your fork for the full effect. But once you bite down on this creamy comfort dish with JUST enough heat, counterbalanced by the egg . . . WOW.

I took all of the other reviews into consideration when making this for dinner last night. To me, it was just ok. I modified the amounts of all ingredients since it's just me and my husband. I also used boneless, skinless chicken breasts rather than thighs on the bone because I didn't want to spend the whole evening preparing dinner. I was pleased with the flavor of the beer/lime just reduction and the spice of the overall dish, however I did add some extra seasoning. I will probably make this again but it won't make it in my regular recipe rotation.

Waaaaaay too much trouble. Like other reviewers said, it takes a huge amount of time to make and the end result was just ok. Not special enough to warrant the time or trouble.....I was surprised because I usually love all of guy's recipes. Oh well.

not sure if i'd make this again unless i was at a loss for what to do for dinner and happen to have most ingredients around.

Second time for this hash. Feeds more than four, but what's wrong with leftovers. Used feta as the queso was not around. Cut back on the potatoes as half pound per person is a little over the top. As good this time as the last.

The only reason I didn't give this one 5 stars is because it takes way longer to prepare than the instructions say. Otherwise this one is a winner! Allow at least and hour and a half if you are making it for dinner tonight. If possible, you can split the preparation into two parts and save the potato section for day two. I also agree you can use boneless, skinless chicken thighs without sacrificing flavor. Enjoy!
