Muddle 4 thick orange slices, 1/4 teaspoon adobo sauce (from canned chipotle peppers) and 2 ounces lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Add 3 ounces tequila, 1 ounce orange liqueur and 11/2 ounces simple syrup. Fill with ice and shake. Strain into 2 glasses filled with ice; garnish with orange slices.

To make simple syrup, bring equal parts sugar and water to a simmer; remove from the heat and let cool.
