For Mullerk, below, who could not find the chocolate wafers --you will likely find the chocolate wafers over in the department that has the graham cracker CRUSTS -- not in the cookie aisle, but the pie-crust mix aisle, Sometimes it is over with the jello and pie FILLINGS. Hope that helps. Otherwise, I'd bet the graham cracker crust, whether homemade or store-bought, would be equally scrumptious! -- Roxane

Yum! My pie took longer than 3 hours and then 1 hour to freeze, but man that was good! I also used Breyer's Coffee icecream as someone below did. And I couldn't find chocolate wafers without cream (although there wasn't much cream, and the crust turned out fine. 5 stars for Guy.

This has become a staple at family gatherings... Friends and family ask for this as a gift. I think you hit the nail on the head with this one, YUMMY!!! I make it when time runs short for a fast dessert. It is always a home run!!!
    Thanks!!!

I made Guy's ice cream pie last night for a small dinner party and WOW! It was not only a pretty dessert to serve but an awesome tasting "give me another piece" kind of pie! Perfect ending for a summer meal with friends.....the only downside was that it was hard for me not to keep "tasting" the filling before putting it into the chocolate shell....it is that addictive! It's like a yummy milkshake made into a pie!

Now the favorite pie of 3, and my brother, who doesn't like desserts, took a bite and said "I wish I had asked for a bigger piece!"

Hint: Taste the ice cream mix before adding to shell. We had to add a couple more tablespoons of Kahlua before we could taste it enough.

Garnish: After drizzling on the hot fudge I added a few whole coffee beans and a sprig of mint in the center just for looks.

The most surprising thing is that this is a LIGHT tasting pie, unlike those mud pies. We used Dryers Coffee.

I made this for my dad's birthday because he loves coffee ice cream and what a hit! So easy to make.. the hardest part was trying not to keep tasting it in between each step and then waiting for it to be refreeze!

This is super simple to make and taste great. We took it to a dinner party and it went over really well. We forgot to buy the hot fudge sauce, so I added the last Tbsp. of liqueur into the whipped cream topping. I'm not sure why this recipe has a 'medium' difficulty rating - don't be afraid - just go for it, it's easy and well worth it.
