I must admit that I'm a wimp with spicey foods, so I omitted the ancho powder from the base and the adobo sauce from the marinade. I also only used smoked, not hot, paprika. Also, I used beef cubes because they cost $4.79/lb. vs. $13.99/lb. for skirt steak (Yeah, I'm cheap too! Still came out fantasic. I can only suspect it would be better with the skirt steak, but that will have to wait until it goes on "special" at the store!

Fantastic Chili, the first time around it was a little too hot so on my second batch I used only about 2/3'ds the chili Guy called for and I also put some more beans in. With all the toppings on it especially the Chyote, this will now be our default chili recipe.

Ugh. So disappointing. Was very hot, which is ok, but the flavors just weren't there. I was primarily not impressed with the way the skirt steak [and veggies] turned out. Not much flavor. I marinated it for 24 hours, but using an indoor grill didn't do the trick. I should have used the real outdoor grill. Nonetheless, we didn't like the taste and did the MANY dishes begrudgingly.
Good luck.

This is one of the best chili's I have ever tasted. The spiced meat, when done overnight is outstanding. It is so good it could stand alone as a Cuban Meal. I grilled the meat.
Try it and you will like it.

I've made this a few times now and my daughter prefers it a little spicier so we add a couple extra serrano peppers. Very unique texture for chili with the squash and steak. The squash and bell peppers are very refeshing with the extra added heat. We love chili and this is our new favorite when we're not planning on using the leftover chili for chili dog's and chili cheese fries. I've also used ground beef with this but it's not as good as his Dragon's Breath Chili if you're using ground meat.

We just finished eating this recipe for dinner. It was a bit on the "hot" side for me, but not for others. The flavors were great!!!, especially the steak. I will make it again for sure!

I know it looks like a million ingredients, but you probably have most of them in your pantry. I only had to buy the peppers and the skirt steak so I lucked out. The recipe is a little time consuming but not too bad but believe me its worth the work. Its delicious. Follow directions just as he has laid them out for you and you will be pleased with the end result,,I was. We had it for our weekly mexican night which we do a couple of times a month and there was not much left over. What was left over tasted even better the next day as a night in frig really brought the flavors together. In fact next time I think I will make the day before and only cook the steak the day of. I will make this again and again and recommend you try it,

I am a long time fan and watcher of FNC, but have never made the effort to review a recipe. This one was a must. It is sooooo good!
