I really enjoyed this recipe the first day. The leftovers were not as enjoyable but still good. It's a bit time consuming but I am sure to make it again as a special treat one day, especially when a garlic craving hits. One warning though, it's very garlicky! I love garlic but if you are not a fan of garlic know that your kitchen is likely to smell like this treat for a day or two. Thanks, Guy! I may never have the opportunity to grace your restaurant so it was a pleasure to get to try one of the dishes served there.

This is the second time I made this recipe. The first time I followed it exactly. This time I used vidalia onions. After following all the steps I did process the mixture in a food processor and i liked the texture better. It is chilling now for grilling tonight with bbq chicken. This is an awesome recipe. Not sure why the bad reviews. Maybe they can't follow directions, or they need to appear on one of Anne Burrell's tv shows.

I just watched the show again. The recipe on the website is exactly what he used on the show. He did use canola oil , red onions, he didn't use balsamic in the mixture, only in the dip. He didn't puree the onions.

Just made it this morning at 7 am. Saw it the other night and had to try it as soon as i could. The show was not wrong with the best thing i ever made. I highly recommend it to anyone that is throwing a party for just about anything.

I made these for a New Year's Eve get-together and it was a huge hit! Everyone was surprised at the sweet flavor, but still loved them. I grilled them on our outdoor grill (I'm in FL! & that worked out great. I did only use 10 tortillas because that's how many come in the package.

I've just watched this segment on The Best Thing I Ever Ate" and the recipe follows the shoe to the "T" EXCEPT for the garlic. To address Thorny4pie's comments below: Guy did not use garlic from the jar, he roasted it himself. He carmalized RED Onions in oil. The onion mixture was not pureed and the balsamic vinegar was only added to the dip. The tortilla wedges were not finished in the oven, they were grilled on top of the stove in a grill pan. I made this recipe and it was delicious!

This is one of those recipes where I really wished I had watched the video again and read the reviews. These ingredients are way off what was on the show. From what I could tell, they used no oil. The onions were browned in butter and sugar only. Second, he used a rough chopped white onion, not red. Red imparts too much sweetness. Third, DO NOT use roasted garlic from a jar. You can clearly see in the video he has fresh roasted garlic. He also added the balsamic to the whole mixture, not just what was on the side. It also says nothing about finishing in the oven. Recipes like this irritate me, because it is not what they serve at the restaurant. What came out of this recipe was horrible. After eating 2 pieces we threw the whole thing out. It was way too sweet, and that's a direct result of using red onions. Next time, it's white onions and fresh roasted garlic, as shown in the video. I agree with denspin that it will need more onions than listed, and blending is a must.

You actually need about 3 and 1/2 pounds of onions to fill the tortillas...Same ratio of other ingredients to make it work...Puree the onion mixture which is shown on the video but not mentioned in the recipe...Don't add the Balsamic to the mix...just the dip...makes for a better flavor balance...I made it about 4 times already with variations all the way...I get rave reviews always...Den in Jersey
