It was just OK. I think it was way too much meat I couldn't taste the yummy goodness inside the burger. The meat itself had no flavor either. I think next time I would use 1 lb of meat, mix the chorizo into the hamburger meat (to give it more flavor, and put the bacon and onion miture in the middle.

First time making these tasty sounding burgers and....AWESOME. We forwent the chorizo due to our 9yr old daughter, but the bacon and onion mixture was fantastic.

This recipe results in super tender and juicy burgers, we loved them! We went a step further and caramelized some onions and jalapenos as well.

I made these burgers for my wife and I. I left out the chorizo and used sharp cheddar cheese inside the burger, but the patty was just perfectly tender and flavorful. To top it all off instead of the ketchup recipe included here we topped it with some homemade garlic aioli and caramelized onions. I have eaten a lot of good burgers but this one took the prize.

I tried to post a link to the garlic aioli recipe but it won't allow me. It is on the food network site and is by Emeril Lagasse.

Love the homemade ketchup!! I put jalapenos on mine, best of both worlds, sweet & spicy!

These are straight up amazing. When the bacon starts rendering with the onions, it makes an incredible smell. The flavors of the chorizo really mesh well with the bacon and beef.
I cooked them directly over charcoal and the outer flavor of the burger was incredible. Juicy, tender, and delicious!

OMG this was so good, you have to make the ketchup it makes this burger. We followed the recipe exactly with the exception we halved the burger recipe as there are just two of us. This does take longer than the recipe says as others stated but it was so worth the work. We will definitly make both the burger and the ketchup again, though it is more of a chutney than a ketchup but the flavor is incredible. We did cook the burgers as instructed 4 minutes on each side over medium heat, then we put them in the oven at 300 degrees for 10 minutes for mine which was medium rare and 15 - 17 minutes for my husbands. Keep in mind that we essentially used one pound of hamburger meat for 4 patties which stacked per recipe made 2 huge burgers. When we make it again we will make 3 burgers (6 patties out of one pound of meat and these will still be huge. I would also season the hamburger meat with grill seasoning. Use a very substantial bun, these get soggy quick. Thanks Guy for hitting another one out of the ballpark.
