Yummy, yummy, yummy. I added extra pepper jack cheese, and in the future will reverse the cheddar and pepper jack amounts. I added leftover turkey roast and it definitely added piazza to the turkey. Can't wait to make it again.

The 1st of his recipes I wasn't thrilled with, followed it exactly & I thought it was bland & a lot of work (and calories & expense for what it tasted like. As I quickly jotted the ingredients to shop, it didn't hit me until later that the 4 cups of heavy cream are actually the whole darn quart! But the panko adds a nice crunch so you don't hear your arteries clogging shut, lol!

I made a couple of adjustments and this recipe still turned out great. I cooked all the bacon, added extra thyme, and I added extra panko bread crumbs. I read a few reviews complaining that this recipe is bland. That is not the case. I made Mac Daddy Mac and Cheese for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it. I'm making it again tonight for my boyfriend's birthday. Hope this helps!

*Guy is the Man. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I regret to inform you that this recipe is more work than it's worth. Too much stuff in there. . I make Mac n Cheese. Mac and I go way back. I took this recipe, (Guy's Mac Daddy/ followed it to the tee, to a Christmas party last year and it Bombed. The reason It bombed, I had deviated from my very simple recipe. ITS MAC N CHEESE (*some prep secrets not revealed
It was surprising how many people at the party commented to me, "The Mac Daddy Recipe had very little flavor". That sounds crazy with all the garlic and shallots and thyme and other blank in there. Mac n Cheese is good....It's good out of the box (ehhh...not really. Point Is You Can Do Better.

OMG!!!! Speechless!!! I will definately make my mac n cheese like this from now on & I make pretty good mac n cheese but this really captivated me. The only thing I did different was use smoke gouda cheese, colby/montery and sharp chedder. Hands down to you Guy! Thanks for sharing this!

I prepared this last night and baked it today. It came out great, the only problem I had was like other reviews it was greasy. I think if I had used a higher quality of cheese it may have not been as greasy but I actually had those cheeses on hand. Other then that it was good and I will try it again with better cheeses.

I have made this a few times for BBQ's...I added more bacon & made 1 & 1/2 helpings of the cheese sauce, poured most of it mixed with the Pasta then added some on top, then the breadcrumbs/ bacon mixture---was GREAT!!! Will make over & over!! I also used pepperjack, cheddar & added some Velveeta mixed in when making the cheese sauce. Everyone loved it!
FYI- you can make the pasta-put in ziplocs, cheese sauce mixture the day ahead refrigerate (separately then put all together the next day of the BBQ to take up less time. Warmed up the cheese sauce then mixed with the pasta, then the breadcrumb mixture then stuck it in the oven before the BBQ. Just as great!
