This was my first time trying and making veggie burgers and i loved them they didn't stick together, although i put it into a toasted pita with tomatoes and shredded lettus and you couldn't even tell the veggie burger broke apart. i also added 1 big carrot shredded, 1/4 c of chopped almonds. but i omitted the olives, jalapeño, artichokes, and the beans. instead i did a 15 ounce can of chickpeas. It was amazingly delicious!

Yes, they do take some time to chop up the veggies but if you have someone with you, it's not too bad. Our shape didn't hold too well but it was our first time doing it and hopefully we'll get better next time. Really good...

Delicious! To make these even a little more healthy we replaced the bread crumbs with a mixture of wheat germ and oat bran. Also, oats were roasted and crushed before adding .. made the patties into small sliders with goat cheese, shredded romaine, and an avocado-yoghurt sauce --- delicious!! --- will definitely make a large batch in the future and freeze the patties for quick meals any time.

AMAZING! This was my first attempt at homemade veggie burgers and they are SOOO worth it!! I will no longer buy store bought veggie burgers after having these. In an effort not to waste the remaining beans I used the full can of each type of bean then added an entire red onion and at least double of the other required vegetables. I also added an additional egg and extra bread crumbs. I ended up with 9 palm sized burgers. These veggie burgers were flavorful and moist and an absolute must to try!

I just made this the third time. Only once have I had all the ingredients on hand, and it always turns out fantastic. Mushing the chickpeas are the only difficulty. Also, try adding Sriracha.

So yummy! Don't let the long list of ingredients scare you away! It was time consuming, but I made a double batch as suggested and ended up with 8 patties. 8 meals for 1 hour of prep is worth it, to me. I whipped most of the beans in my blender to make a puree. Nearly perfect... no crumbling, with a very slight amount of cracking. I've had 2 already and froze the rest. I toasted the oats and love the flavor it gives. Next time, I may replace them with quinoa. I nixed the artichokes, sage, and celery salt. I subbed pickled hot peppers for jalepenos. Dusted each side with whole wheat flour and pan fried them for a couple of minutes on each side for a crunchy crust. Made the garlic aioli with 1 cup of Hellman's Light Mayo, 1 clove of toasted garlic, juice of 1 lemon, and pepper. Makes enough for 4 patties. Spicy, flavorful, filling... So, so, so good. Even my mostly-carnivorous boyfriend liked them! This recipe will definitely be in regular rotation!

Great recipe, we enjoyed these. I was a little confused as to whether you meant for the beans and oats to be in ounces by weight or volume. I used weight. Some improvements: form 6 burgers instead of 4, unless you are looking for huge burgers. Toast the oats either in the oven or in a pan, as they tasted a bit raw. I also think it needed more veggies, less beans. It wasn't really sticking together very well, so I took about 1/3 of it and pureed it in the food processor. That made a paste which helped a lot. The flavor was very good.

I just made these last night and loved the flavor. I don't know if I missed something, though, because they fell apart in the pan. Were the beans supposed to be mashed to make it easier to keep their shape as patties? My husband and daughter didn't like them, but they aren't that adventurous with their palates, sadly. I froze them as patties, though, and will eat them, regardless of the form they take when they defrost. Any insights on how to keep them in patty form would be most welcome. Thank you.
