My husband and I loved these. We are not vegetarians but we only eat meat a few times a week. I will definitely be making these again. Very easy to make too.

One of the best veggie burgers ever. Don't be afraid of all the ingredients! Omni-husband thought they were great, too. My only change: mash half the beans with potato masher to help them stick together. They kept well in the fridge and I ate them everyday for a week.

Have made these twice, and this time left them in fridge for 3 hours before cooking --still crumbly. My wife suggested pureeing the beans, and I may do that with some next time, but I don't want to lose all of the texture and have mushy burgers. Maybe add the flour coating next time, which someone said helps.

And someone needs to enlighten me--What are the dangers associated with soy?

My kids and I love these burgers. I have tweeked the recipe a few times by taking out the black olives, red peppers, artichokes, rolled oats parsley, celery salt and sage and only using the black beans. For this recipe I use 2 cans black beans mashed, 1 egg, red onion, panko bread crumbs, jalepeno, cumin, chili powder, garlic (minced salt/pepper (to taste shredded mexican blend cheese, and on and try adding the packaged bacon crumbles that come in a package in the salad dressing aisle (not Bacon Bits but the softer kind and cilantro (chopped instead of parsley. When you have mixed everything form into patties and then on a plate put a small amount of wheat flour and dust the front and back of the burgers, this will form a really nice crust when you cook them and will prevent them from breaking when you flip them over. You will see the difference when you dust them with a little flour. Enjoy!!!

I actually liked these just fine. I liked that they got a nice crust on the outside. Unfortunately my family did not like them. They said they were too bean-y and crumbly. They love morning star grillers, but I'm looking for a much cheaper home-made alternative.

These are amazing--I'll never go back to frozen veggie burgers. To cut down on prep time a little, I rough-chopped the veggies and sauted them while doing the rest of the prep (opening beans, measuring spices, etc., then put them in the food processer with the beans. I stirred in the eggs, bread crumbs (panko and oats by hand to preserve some texture. After chilling, my patties held together fine but you do have to be gentle with them; make sure your pan and oil are hot and be patient--let them cook long enough on the first side to develop a nice crust, then only turn them once. I'll definitely be making these again with a variety of add-ins; a great way to use up leftover veggies and grains. Thanks Guy, ya big carnivore, for throwing something out there for us veggies!
