Guy Fieri also did an article for Family Circle earlier last year and it featured a recipe similar to this except it was for a pie, not bars. That version has a 1/4 cup tequila and tasted better. If you go to their website and search recipes for this it will come up. I wish they had all the recipes he did for that article because they really fit together well including a chimichuri flank steak recipe.

Finally this recipe shows the amount of tequila! They've made the name consistent, too, although it's still listed twice in the search results. I first found it on Guy's page as a video back in Jan. about Super Bowl treats as "Tequila Lime Tart Bars" -- and on the video he didn't give an amount as he added the tequila. After a Search, I found the bars (not listed by the name he called them but there was still no amount for the tequila, just " cup". I sent an e-mail inquiry about the confusion in names and the amount of tequila, and FN Support just sent back a link to the same recipe I was inquiring about. I'm happy to see FN really did listen to our complaints! Note that there's also a similar recipe by Guy called Tequila Lime Tart.

I first decided to use this recipe after seeing it in Food Network Magazine. When I was doing my Super Bowl Party planning, I looked up the online version and used it. When I saw it called for a "cup tequila", I thought it might be a little much but I figured it would cook off. Man, was I wrong! After spending almost $10 on ingredients and about an hour cooking and preparing, these bars tasted like a tequila shot!! Then I went back and checked the recipe and realized it should have been 1/3 cup of tequila. Big difference. I think you could knock it down even less than that, or have no tequila at all and just a little extra lime juice and maybe a teaspoon or so of sugar. I could tell the recipe would've been excellent if the tequila measurement had been right. The crust was fantastic.

I was glad that I read the reviews on this one. I made it with between a fourth and a third of a cup of tequila. I had at my superbowl party and they were a nice compliment to the south-western themed menu. They were pretty good. Little kids - under 10 - didn't like them at all. But the adults enjoyed them okay. When I made them, I didn't realize that the crust had to be made so much ahead of time (because I didn't read ahead so the filling really sat around awhile waiting for the crust to cool. I think it lost some of its style so if I make again. i'll be more mind full of the timing.

Agree with Kelly. I used a full cup of tequila and it was waaaaay too much, ruined the bars. My husband, of course, thought they were FINE, but they were much too tequila-y for me. I'm guessing, 1/4 of a cup would be plenty. Bummer. I made the recipe for Super Bowl Sunday and was disappointed. The crust was really yummy though!

This looked like a great recipe to try for football night. It lists "cup of tequila" . We assumed 1 cup, seemed alot but what the H***........WRONG. that is way too much. Tasted terrible, really strong. I looked up a similar recipe for Tequila tart and it lists 1/4 cup. I think this is probably the right amount. Might try it again sometime with 1/4 cup.
