I absolutely LOVE this dish! I made it for the first time two years ago for Thanksgiving. My family has never had green bean casserole on our Thanksgiving table, and this was a hit! It is time consuming, but well worth it! This year, I am going to try to bake the onion topping, to avoid the tavern smell caused by the deep frying! Would love to know if anyone has tried any alternative methods for making it ahead to save time on Turkey Day. Happy Cooking!

I made this the first time and it certainly didn't have the flavor we liked so ..... I left out the red bells and mustard and added a little milk the second go around and it was wonderful. I should have known better because we're not fans of red bell pepper but I gave a shot. I usually love Guy's recipes but I need to remember to tweek them to my family's tastes.

Because of all the prep work required I found it works to mix the beans and roux the night before and then bake it when I am making the onion strings. Saves time and space in a busy holiday kitchen and letting the spices sit over night makes it that much tastier!

This recipe was so good! Green Bean Casserole has never been a part of our holiday dinners, but when I saw Guy make this on TV I thought I have to try it. It was a huge hit!! Everyone loved it. And the onion strings on top... to die for! Recipe was easy to follow. A lot of stepp (chopping and such but totally worth it.

I hate GBC and my dad made this for the holidays and it was AMAZING! I'm actually going to attempt to make it myself it was that good. Standout attributes were just a big mouthful of FLAVOR in every bite and the nice crunch on top. My dad used the canned fried onions and it was still yummy and he also left out the shallots.

I made this for Christmas dinner and my husband and I thought it lacked flavor. We decided the next time we make this we will use milk and chicken broth to make the white sauce and omit the panko. The panko never browned up and was soggy.

Very good! I used the fried onions that come in a can for the top to save time instead of frying my own. Everything turned out great! Im shocked how good this acually is. Everyone loved it!
