I decided to try this at the last minute and it was very easy to make. I expected to love it as I have made dishes with sweet potato and apples - but the most amazing thing was how much my Mother LOVED it! She is very picky, states how much she does NOT like spice or excess "flavor". I made this dish, put it out, and she ate helping after helping. She could not stop eating it and said it was the best sweet potato dish she ever had.... then I told her it had whiskey and cayenne pepper. She was shocked, and of course said she didn't like those things..but kept eating and took the leftovers home! I loved it and will be making this not only a go to for the holidays, but a frequent dish. The use of agave instead of sugar makes a big plus for those with diabetes.

Really tasty dish. Easy to make - I didn't have a wider dish, so I baked it about 10-15 min extra - basting every 5 minutes or so. Guy's "secret weapon" (the whiskey made all the difference.
    I'll definitely make this again.

Great! I substituted 2 onions for the nuts and maple syrup or aguave! Yum!

I made this dish today for Thanksgiving dinner at my inlaws. It was SO good! Even the family members that don't like sweet potatoes had some and really enjoyed it. The only reason it doesn't have 5 stars, and I mean the ONLY reason is because I hate peeling sweet potatoes! lol I can never get them off right! lol

These are really tasty and I am making them again for Easter dinner. I did make some changes only because I didn't have apples or agave syrup on hand. I used brown sugar in lieu of the syrup. Also used honey whiskey, which gave it a really nice sweetness without being overpowering.

Amazing! The nuts were the best part, but the whole thing was delicious. I would dial back the pepper a little, but it was wonderful.

Guy has done good with this recipe! It's so delicious and easy to make! I made it for Christmas Dinner and my family loved it! It's so good that you don't have to cook it just for the holidays, it's a year-round recipe!

This is a very easy, very tasty alternative to the marshmallow-laden casserole. The cayenne pepper gives just a little bite and helps cut the sweetness of the potatoes and apples. The heat sneaks up on you. I've never cooked with agave syrup before. I had no trouble finding it in my lttle corner grocery store. It was easy to use. The bourbon I thought I had in my cabinet turned out to be brandy. I used it anyway and it was fine. Well done, Guy. Thanks!
