I made this dish using japanese sweet potatoes that are purple on the outside and white inside. In my hurry to make this dish I forget to include the apples and the nuts. Nevertheless, this dish was the most delicious sweet potatoes I have every had. The combination of the agave nectar, whiskey and the hint of the cayenne pepper was off the charts with flavor. My husband, my daughter and I loved the dish. Message to Guy, I promise to make the dish again for Christmas and to follow the recipe step by step.

I made these for Thanksgiving instead of the usual "marshmallow-on-top" casserole...they were FANTASTIC! The cayenne had just the right amount of kick without being overpowering. This recipe is a definite keeper!

I thought this recipe was awesome, and I don't even like sweet potatos, i used honey crisp apples and followed the recipe exactly, it was enjoyed by all, will definetly make this again. I love trying new recipes on Thanksgiving.

    We loved this recipe!!!
I did have to substitute brown sugar for the Agave,so I did add more butter. Also used Captain Morgan Spiced Rum instead of whiskey. Couldn't taste the cayenne at all & we like heat, so I think I would increase the next time I make. This will become a side dish we use at holiday gatherings in the future! The contrast of the sweet (pecans/glaze & potato with the crisp bites of apple was really perfect. THANKS for a great new recipe!!!

I'm not real sure about this one. My guests welcomed the addition of the apples, which really stayed pretty crisp. Maybe I used the wrong kind. I used granny smith. I forgot to add the cayenne pepper. I don't know how much of a difference that would have made. I doubt that I would have added the full amount though anyway. Cayenne pepper is some pretty strong stuff. I used the whiskey as directed but like the suggestion of using apple cider instead. If I make it again, I would probably make that adjustment. I'm not a whiskey lover.

Awesome recipe! I was a little apprehensive about the sliminess of the glaze (reminded me of okra snot sauce from the peace corps, but after I took it out of the over, the fluids had been absorbed. I made this in a small round casserole dish and packed everything really tightly. I covered in with foil and baked it for 25 minutes, then uncovered it and cooked it for 5 more minutes. AWESOME! Thanks, Guy!

And I think you could use apple cider if you wanted to omit the whiskey.

Excellent. I thought the agave syrup made the recipe (it has a depth of flavor but is not overly sweet -- very smooth and the flavors (spices, bourbon were beautifully united. I had thought the apples would be softer, but they were still crunchy, so they were a contrast to the very soft sweet potatoes. Was that intentional? Very tasty side dish.

This dish is amazing! Even people who do not like sweet potatoes ate this and raved about it. I made it totally as the recipe states with one exception. Before putting on the glaze, I added 6 strips of crumbled cooked bacon. Everything is better with bacon. Will definately make this one again, and already 2 people who ate it asked for the recipe. Yummie.

Loved this! Definitely the best sweet potato dish I've ever eaten. Even my two teens loved it. I used granny smith apples and scotch whiskey and followed the recipe exactly...except that I peeled the sweet potatoes before realizing I was supposed to bake them first, so I wrapped each one in foil and they roasted beautifully. My husband had picked up the agave nectar earlier in the week after we watched the show so we had all the ingredients! Yummy!

These were amazing, everyone raved about them. The whiskey sauce was good enough to eat with a spoon - it would be terrific over ice cream!
