This recipe is perfect, as written. It is almost identical to Emeril's "Russian Tea Cakes" cookie recipe. Some complained that this recipe is "too dry"; it could be that your butter/margarine was not adequately softened. For a recipe calling for "softened" butter/margarine, I leave it out for at leas 8 hours...baked goods come out perfectly moist every time! Again, wonderful recipe!

I live in a dormitory made up of mostly guys. It works out well because I love to bake and they love to eat. I was afraid that a tea cookie might be a little too refined for their manly stomachs, but boy was I wrong! This was their favorite cookie that I've made all year! I substituted pumpkin seeds for the hazelnuts (I'm on a college budget and I added a finely chopped up a chocolate bar (Aero - bought from a vending machine. They were just AMAZING! They didn't come out dry at all when I made them (maybe I'm just lucky. This recipe is definitely a keeper. My boys will be very pleased when I make these again :

I made these cookies during the holidays with my 5 yr old niece and we had a blast. I substituted walnuts for hazelnuts and everything turned out delicious. Yes, these cookies are dry, but they are supposed to be. The powdered sugar coating looked very pretty and my niece loved the process. In the end, everyone in my family loved these...whether 5 or 50!

These cookies were too dry and very disappointing. If I tried the recipe again I would use pecans or walnuts instead of hazelnuts and would add more butter.

These cookies are a family favorite, just like grandma used to make. I don't like nuts so I use mini choc chips and they are amazing.

Since I absolutely LOVE hazelnuts, this cookies is AMAZING!! Instead of baking it in a ball, I dipped a glass in sugar and flattened it somewhat. Then, I frosted it with powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla. What a treat!! Thanks, Aida . . .
