Will mess around with the basic recipe to get a flavor and consistency that we enjoy.

These are amazing considering the fact they are baked! I mixed in an egg after the food processor step, and they came out crispy on the outside and still semi-moist on the inside, just like the fried version. I also dressed the pockets with my own homemade tahini, and substituted Goya Recaito (cilantro-based cooking sauce for the cilantro and parsley. I will definitely be making again! Thanks Ellie!

I can't speak for how this compares to "true" falafel, as I've never ordered them at a restaurant. I'm sure they're good, but they always looked awful to me due to the heavy frying. I love middle eastern flavors and I loved all the ingredients, so I decided to try these. They were delicious! The only change I made was that I didn't have any cilantro, so I did 1/2 cup of parsley. I wasn't able to get 16 balls out of the recipe, but it made 10. It was perfect for me, my husband, and our 3 year old (who also enjoyed the recipe, but not in a pita, just all separated. They were super messy, so next time, I think I'd just serve it as a salad with toasted pita triangles. It would definitely be good with tzatsiki instead of the tahini sauce, but I LOVED the flavor of the sauce on the falafel. By itself, the sauce didn't taste very good, but all together it was great! Great job Ellie!

LOVED LOVED LOVED these. I haven't had one since college and then a little coffee shop opened in the Hospital I was going to. smelled so good I had to have one. eventhough "authentic" ones were fried, I thought they were drier than I remembered. Ellie's were delish.... I did however add extra parsley and Tbs of olive oil to combat the claimed dryness. I may also have overdone the food processor that made it a much mushier dough. Can't wait to share these with vegetaqrian friends.

OMG Ellie, the word is F A L A F E L not f e l a f e l. Sounds like you "felt awful" after eating these. I know from past experience a falafel is delicious and I look forward to trying Ellie's.

I wanted something vegetarian for dinner other than lentils so I tried this. The mixture didn't hold together very well, but I also didn't bake them for the recommended time (didn't want them to be dry. Also, they weren't very flavorful. The just kind of tasted like mushed up chickpeas with some spices mixed in. Won't be eating again, but it was an alright meal.

Lots of comments about it being dry, so here's what I did. I added both Tbsp of the olive oil to the mix in the food processor and used a very light spray of olive oil pan spray on a sheet pan. Also, I would bake them for only 10 min, flip, 10 more minutes. Done. They just get too dried out if baked 20 min per side and you lose all the delicious flavor that the felafel base has!! We loved these!! For sauce I mixed non fat greek yogurt with roasted garlic and just a touch of hummus. YUM!

I usually get these on a rare occasion when I come across a place that makes these. Usually they are fried which is a turn off for me since I try to stay far away from fried foods. This recipe however is baked and you wouldn't even be able to tell. My husband thought they were more moist and flavorful than the restaurants falafels. Between the two of us we ate the whole batch. I plan on making more next time to freeze for a quick lunch. I served mine with plain yogurt and instead of making tahini sauce (I couldnt find the sesame paste I bought spicy chipotle hummus which gave it a kick.
