This was the first time I tried a recipe from Ellie. I was not impressed. I found the pancakes to be extremely tasteless and had no warm or complex flavors which easily could have been achieved by adding some spices and/or extracts. However, the texture was not even good enough to build from this recipe. Will search for another, better, wheat pancake recipe.

I loved these pancakes. Their thicker than the normal whole wheat because of the soda, powder and buttermilk. Definiltey would make them again. The strawberry syrup was ok - not all that sweet and I used frozen strawberries so they seemed a bit watered down. All in all, would make the pancakes again and just use sugar free syrup or jam.

These pancakes were easy to make and delicious. However, I found the batter to be a little thinner than regular buttermilk pancake batter. A little bit more difficult to make the perfect round pancake but delicious for a whole wheat version.

Every other whole wheat pancake recipe I have tried has been a big disappointment, but this one is fantastic! So light and fluffy and slightly sweet! I didn't make the strawberry sauce. Instead, I served them with the mango sauce Ellie makes for Angel Food Cake. Turned out great! I don't know that I'll every try another pancake recipe again. From now on, this is my pancake recipe!

I will definitely make this strawberry sauce again. The pancakes were a little bland and dry.
As others said, adding a little sugar to the sauce helped sweeten it.
And I used fat free vanilla yogurt in place of the buttermilk as well.

I have been making these pancakes for a year and it just occured to me to rate them. Is is by far the best pancake recipe I have ever tried. The flavor, consistency and color are all fabulous. I have added every type of seasonal fruit available with great success. Don't change a thing, prepare the recipe as written. You won't be disappointed and will end up with a new favorite recipe. I threw out my other pancake recipes.

added chocolate chips to sweeten them up. saved the sauce for dessert - heated it up and served over a little bit of premium vanilla ice cream - delightful!

These pancakes are really great...they don't taste that much different from regular pancakes. But the really great part of this recipe is the strawberry sauce! Very yummy! I added 3 packets of Splenda to the sauce just to sweeten it a bit.
