I tried this recipe for the first time when looking for a dish to tempt someone who requested a low-fat meal. I was very pleasantly surprised by its savory and uncomplicated flavor. I made a couple of minor adjustments by adding about 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes and some toasted pine nuts (which my low-fat friend could either eat or leave for me. I thin-sliced the radicchio, as Ellie recommends, and did not find it too bitter. This is a fast, easy, and satisfying dish.

we dont have radicchio or endive here so I used red cabbage and spinach instead. Good thing its not bitter coz Im no fan of bitter foods. I put in plenty of garlic too. Its an easy recipe, something you can whip up really in a few minutes.

The basics of this recipe are good, but I also found it to be really bitter. If I ever make it again I won't use the radicchio. I barely used any and it was still bitter tasting. I usually love her food but this just wasn't my favorite. I think I could just make up a recipe that would have better flavor to be honest. If anyone has any ideas after you make it to improve, please let us know!! Sorry Ellie!!

I really liked this dish! I made 3 changes however, so that is why only 4 stars. First I can NEVER find Arugula in my market, makes me so disappointed, so I used escarole instead, second, I thought 1 1/2 cups of basil was ALOT of basil, so I only used about 1/2 cup, and third, I used actual tri-color pasta made from veggies. Maybe because I didn't use the Arugula, but I did not find the taste over bitter at all. I actually found this recipe easy, simple, and very delicious! My husband even liked it, and he has stated many times he doesn't like cooked lettuce. LOL It will definately be making an appearance again. :

Truthfully, I was expecting this to be a little bit tastier. I just returned from a conference, where it was very difficult to each healthily. I was looking for a recipe with lots of greens/veggies without a lot of fat/cheese. This recipe seemed perfect; however, I agree with many of the other reviewers, in that the radicchio was unbelievably bitter. Arugula is already bitter, so when the bitter radicchio is also made it addition it is just too much bitterness! The garlic flavor wasn't strong enough for me either. All in all, not huge fan of this, and I likely will not make it again. Sorry, Elie.

Radicchio makes this dish extremely bitter. If you are planning to cook this please add very little radicchio or even replace it with some other type of lettuce.

Although the dish looks great, I just didn't care for it. I found it to be extremely bitter. I won't make it again.

I've made this meal twice now and I think I need to try again. The first time was amazing! My boyfriend and I loved it despite the fact that I forgot to add the chicken stock until after we started eating, but it was wonderful after that. The only thing I did differently was use sliced fresh tomatoes instead of the sun dried tomatoes b/c I couldn't find the sun dried. Well, I think that is where I went wrong the second time. I used sun dried tomatoes and I absolutely hated the meal, the taste of the tomatoes was too overwhelming for me. But that won't stop me from making it again and now I know the wonderful tastes of the endive and radicchio.

It was awesome and visually appealing. I added fresh chives with the basil at the end. All the vegetable flavors are amazing together. This would also be a great vegetarian dish without the chicken. Next time I will add Italian turkey sausage (low fat instead of chicken as Ellie's all about healthy eating!
Also, before dinner we served a wonderful
antiposto platter.
