That is not the correct dumpling recipe or procedure. After some searching I found the real one, tested it, and it worked.

    FOR THE DUMPLINGS

    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1 egg
    1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    Milk (amount varies

    Mix egg and oil together.
Mix all dry together in different bowl.
Add dry to wet a bit at a time until it becomes a crumbling mess (I prefer fork over whisk
Add milk a bit at a time (important not to over-milk until the mess becomes a single sticky ball. Best to cook immediately.

Use ice cream scoop to place balls on steamer basket over boiling water at med. heat. Steam for 15 minutes.

This is the base and the dumplings are a bit plain... I will be attempting to add some flavors next time I try this.

Great recipe and I serve it to guests as well as family........Vegetables in the cooking water with the chicken is a good idea- removing them when you take the chicken out to cool. Perfect comfort food.

come on people do any of us think for a minute that a business is going to GIVE AWAY there real recipes. why would you pay someone to make something that you can make at home. I like Guy, I like triple D, But you will be hard pressed to find a real diners , drive Inns and dives recipe. that would be business suicide. Becasue all of us have the secret recipe for KFC chicken RIGHT! that is why we are willing to shell out 2 or 3 bucks for a piece of chicken. stand in line with rude teenagers and poor service cause we can whip it up at home > PLEASE

I don't like Chicken and Dumplings.....at all..something about the texture of it all...however, my family LOVES it. They BEG me to make this about once every 2 weeks now that I have made this recipe. I don't mind because it's so easy to make. I am even bad at dumplings. Usually they fall apart or boil over when I make them...these don't. My husband says these dumplings are very tasty and have a great flavor. If you are a fan of Chicken and Dumplings, this is a must try.

Although this is not the recipe that was shown on DDD, I was happy with the results as what I ended up with was Chicken & Dumplings jus like my favorite local joint, VJ's on the Runway in Birmingham, AL. The only thing missing when I made this last night was VJ's Jalapeno cornbread (which I will definately make next time!.
