I also made for Thanksgiving. Topped with caramel and ice cream and this is one awesome dessert! Thank you, Ina!

Excellent. I made for Thanksgiving instead of a pie and was completely satisfied with dessert. I am not especially accomplished at this point but this recipe helped me seem like it. I am picky about what I choose for my favorites file and this one is going in!

Easy, delicious and a crowd favorite! Used Granny Smith and Honey Crisp apples (what was available AND on sale along with pears commonly at store. On topping, only cut down the sugar and brown sugar to 1/2 cup each. Follow the recommmendation from other reviewers and bake for a least one hour or longer. Think I actually baked for 1/5 hours to get crust topping browned. Made it night before my Thanksgiving dinner and it was a hit! Everyone loved it! Served it with vanilla bean ice cream and it was the rave of the dessert table. Great recipe, Ina. I will use it in the future for sure!

It was delicious! I used Rome apples (6 lbs instead of Macoun, and did not use pears or the zests. It was simple and the go-to dessert for Thanksgiving.

Followed the recipe for the most part except I added an extra pinch of orange zest. This is a really tasty recipe!

Effortless, very forgiving. I substituted cardomom for the nutmeg. I did not have a paddle attachment on my stand mixer so I just mixed the topping with a spatula, it still came out fine.

This is truly dessert heaven. I made it just as the recipe calls for, but I doubled the topping. We ate it warm with vanilla ice cream. One of our new holiday favorites.

Very tasty. I was even able to convert this recipe to a gluten free desert. Every body loved it and they didn't know it was gluten free.

Love this recipe (we JUST had a serving about an hour ago. For those that don't like oatmeal, I used ginger snaps. Any sort of crushed (but chunky, not powdered cookies can work instead, or just a cup of your favorite nuts, like almond, walnut, or pecan.
