These are awesome! So simple and delicious. I followed the directions exactly except I didn't have any dried cherries so I left them out and the recipe was cut in half. I was trying to find a way to use some left over puff pastry (but with no milk, cream, or fruit except oranges and apples and I'm so happy I found this one from Ina. The orange juice and zest give it wonderful flavor and juiciness. It's best right out of the oven with vanilla ice cream, but I will admit I enjoyed the others for a late night snack and breakfast.

I made these for New Year's Eve and everyone loved them. Easy to make(my 7+5 year assisted in the kitchen and delicious to eat. I agree with previous writer, I will cut the apples a little smaller next time. Serve with Vanilla ice cream and you have a perfect and easy dessert!

One of the most heavenly desserts I've ever tasted. The apples have a perfectly balanced flavor that is both tart and sweet. Garten's use of store-bought puff pastry is a wonderful shortcut, and that unbeatable flakiness really makes these special. The Barefoot Contessa has definitely created the ultimate apple turnover. Bravo!

These turnovers made me look like a very proficient baker! I actually used 1/2 organic applies and 1/2 organic pears, and for dried fruit I used dried strawberries and a few golden raisins - I needed to use what I had on hand. Besides that, I followed the recipe to the letter and my, they were golden brown, flaky and very tasty. I wish I had made them for Thanksgiving. It was so nice to have dessert that could be eaten out of hand (after all the holiday dishes to wash, and provide a sweet that is light and bright. YUM. Make this recipe - you won't be sorry.

Simple and tasty! For the cook asking what the sauce was, it was just cream. Nothing added, just cream poured over the turnover. Hope this helps.

Love these turnovers! Not only are they easy to make, but it's so easy to play with the recipe. I've become very creative with the fruit fillings and spices. Use a variety of dried and/or fresh berries, peaches, etc. Sometimes, I will cut up a few caramels in my apple filling - just sinful! My family loves them and yours will also.

I happened to have apples in the crisper and puff pastry in the freezer so I made these for an impromptu dinner with friends last weekend. These were amazing, another one hit right out of the park by Ina! I couldn't believe how easy these were -- I made them ahead, egg washed and sugared them and held them in the fridge until 20 minutes before dessert. Perfection!

I made this recipe about a week ago, and it was a hit. I used a bit more cinnamon than the recipe called for, and an extra apple or two so as to fill the turnovers completely, and I am glad I did. I cannot imagine how only three apples would have filled them all. I used mostly granny smith, but added a few Gala apples (I doubled the recipe and the turnovers were delicious! Everyone who tried them loved them...definitely a keeper, and is going in my recipe box!
