These fries were delicious! The hint of brown sugar brings out the sweetness of the potato. It gives it a nice sweet/salty combo. I increased the cooking time to crisp them up and that seemed to work. I also stirred the brown sugar mixture into the potatoes before putting them in the oven and I think that that helped them to be crispy because the sugar caramelized. Also, I think my oven runs a little hot so I may have been baking them at a hotter temperature. I just kept my eye on them to make sure they didn't burn.

Loved these sweet potatoe fries. Not crispy, but I don't think I've ever had crispy sweet potatoe fries. However, they were the best ones I've ever made. The small amount of sugar does the trick. I like anything Ina Garten makes. She's the best in my opinion!

I agree... they taste very good, but not crispy at all. I also tried turning the broiler on a few minutes at the end and cutting them thinner. Anyone know how to crisp them, please let me know!!

The taste was pretty good. Certainly not "crispy" by any means. I followed the recipe exactly, and half of them burned, REALLY charred. I suspect the cooking temp is too high.

The Contessa comes through again. First recipe for baked sweet potato fries that we would make again. Very tasty. Nice ratio of sweet to heat. Sliced much thinner than the instructions called for. Never going to be deep fried crispy, we're ok with that.

Usually 5 stars for Ina, but I made these tonight as my "dinner" (hubby out and found them to be tasty, but certainly not crispy as Ina said they would be. I loved them and ate all of my sweet potato fries from one large potato. I did slice it thinner in hopes of crispiness.

They were very good but not quite crispy enough. I thought about smaller in size might help.

My whole family loved these sweet potato fries! The brown sugar, salt, and pepper mixture gives them a nice, sweet kick (if you have really young ones, you might want to cut back on the pepper a bit. Mine didn't get really crispy, but they weren't soggy. Thanks for another tasty recipe Ina!

Absolutely wonderful. They came out perfectly. I served them with a chipoltle mayonaise. Sweet, salty, spicy deliciousness. Even my husband who doesn't like sweet potato fries thought these were pretty good. Thank you Ina!
