Soooo good! It is key to allow the butter to come to room temperature for best icing texture and spreadability. The buttercream is so creamy and delicious, and the cake is so moist and dark (that cup of brewed coffee really makes it! I think it tastes best refrigerated or even frozen.

I took a leap and desperately needed something special to take to our community picnic. It was so good, so moist, and deliriously sinful, it was GONE in virtually 20 minutes! What a hit, even to a crowd of folks who are tremendous cooks! I followed the exact recipe. The next time I made it, I made it with my mother's home made caramel icing. It was equally delicious. The recipe was easy! I'll never buy another box cake mix again! Thank you Ina! And thank you

I will never make a chocolate cake from a box! This tastes like it came from a bakery. Be sure to sift the dry ingredients well. I tried to skip that step and the salt stayed in one area of the cake. Even with that mistake this still is the best cake I've ever made!

The frosting is yummy and may serve it's purpose on occasion. However, the cake is so delicious. I think it may be the best chocolate cake recipe. The texture is amazing. I will use this with different frostings as my go-to chocolate cake recipe.
