I made this cake last night, and it is a great recipe. My husband, who does not care for cake too much, actually ate a whole slice. A really big compliment! The only down side was the frosting was a bit too sweet. Next time I make this cake, I will cut the confectioners sugar for the frosting in half. The cake was the perfect trexture and not too sweet. Over all excellent recipe!

I will never buy a chocolate cake again. This cake is so much better than any chocolate cake I've ever purchased. I just made it for my sister's birthday. I used Valrhona cocoa and I am sure it made a huge difference in the richness and depth of chocolate flavor. I used Peet's coffee as well. This cake was also easy to ice. I topped it with two Gerbera daisies for simple, elegant decoration. Make sure you have plenty of milk on hand when serving this cake.

This is, by far, the best chocolate cake I've ever made. The cake is moist, and the frosting is like silk and so easy to spread. This is definitely a cake to make for company. Another great one, Ina!

This was one of the most moist chocolatey cake I've ever made. I made them into cupcakes, but it worked fine as long as I shortened the baking time to 15-20 minutes. AWESOME!

Always trying for that ultimate chocolate cake recipe that generations will remember me for. This one is it. I loved the texture, it baked up so even and pretty. The flavors were even better the next day when I usually throw out a cake. I did have to add a little more powdered sugar for the right texture of the frosting. Maybe my kitchen was kinda warm. Everyone raved about this cake. Thanks again Ina

This cake turned out lovely, although it was much more coffee-tasting than I prefer. I would make it again but maybe substitue something else in place of the coffee or just put a lot less of it.

This recipe was super easy and the cake was so moist right out of the oven. The icing has a nice coffee flavor to it but its not overwhelming. Neither the icing nor the cake was too sweet, it was perfect. If you don't want the coffee flavor in the icing its just as good without the instant coffee using milk chocolate baking chocolate instead. When I finished mixing all the ingredients the batter was really runny and i was worried i had done something wrong, i kept going over the ingredients list wondering if i had left one of the dry ingredients out, but it ended up perfect. I will definitely make this again and again.

This is a fabulous recipe. The cake is dense and very filling. The icing in insanely chocolately!!! The combination of coffee and chocolate is fantastic. The icing recipe is great on anything. Definately a recipe that I will use for years to come. Ina doesn't disappoint with this one!
