I've never made a chocolate cake from scratch until a few months ago. I made it for someone else and they say it was delicious. I was so afraid because the batter was so thin. but it was so very moist. I am making one again today for my family and am looking forward to enjoying it. It is really the best cake I've made to date. Thanks again for sharing such a wonderful recipe.

I' m an old dude that likes to bake because it reminds me of my youth with a chemistry set. This cake is absolutely delishious just as written. My wife even likes it and she's not high on chocolate because it has a little coffee in it.

This is truly the BEST chocolate cake ever!! The batter is very thin, so the first time I made it I wasn't sure if that was okay--well it was. Cake comes out so moist and chocolaty. Ina's recipes never dissappoint & this cake is really over the top. Glad it was picked for one of top recipes of 2012--it is!!

Taste wonderful and very easy to make. It has just the right amount of sweetness. This is a chocolate cake that I will make for any and every occasion!!

Honestly thought this recipe wouldn't taste that great when I tasted the parts, but when combined together the final product is very hard to resist. Made this for the first time this year for a Jesus' birthday cake, but we probably will not wait until next Christmas to try again. So awesome as always Ina. A big thanks to you!

Well, this cake batter was very loose !! BUT IT BAKED INTO A WONDERFUL CAKE !!! SO MOIST !! LOVE THIS !! THE FROSTING IS WONDERFUL !!! The only mistake I made was I used a 10 by 1 in pan what a mess, it overflowed all over. I will be buying 8 by 2 in pans tomorrow !! Because I want to make another to look like the picture. This is my all time favorite chocolate cake and frosting !!! I followed the recipe with no changes. Thanks for all your wonderful shows and tips and most of all your recipes !!!

I LOVE this cake, it's full of dark chocolate flavor, but very light, not so sweet and gooey. The cake is very easy, the frosty is a little more involved but well worth the effort. I made this for Christmas dinner, it was a huge hit. Please DO use a better grade of cocoa and chocolate, that would make all the difference. Happy Baking! THANKS INA!

This chocolate cake is the best! I've made it 3x already and it keeps getting better. It's moist and not too sweet. For this Christmas, I decorated it and it was lovely.

This cake is awesome. It came out very moist and delicious and got rave reviews. I followed the recipe exactly, but made my own vanilla buttercream frosting.
