Everyone in my home and some friends who have had this when I cook it, absolutely love it. It is an amazing dish. I really enjoy making it. Cooking is my specialty! Thanks!

Made tonight and it was a hit! My beef melted in my mouth. Just have to make sure to buy tender beef. An hour fifteen was more than enough time.

Made this tonight. Tasted ridiculously good. Only con was that the beef was a bit on the chewy side, but no big deal to me - I just sucked it up and dealt with it. Took a bit longer than noted, but that was by choice. Used a bordeaux and brandy because that's what I had on hand. Dog enjoyed the bacon too.

Same issue with the cooking time. Raised the temp to 300 and left in oven for 3 hours, stirring every hour and testing. I used a chuck roast and a bottle of Turning Leaf Pinot Noir. So tender and tasty!

Unbelievable flavor! I did agree with other reviewers that it needs to be in the oven for longer than the stated time. I left mine in the hot box for 2 hours 45 minutes and it turned out fantastic. Love the flavor and every aspect of the dish and made for a fantastic Sunday dinner. Thanks for the recipe and you will not be let down if you decide to make this for dinner.

This is a real crowd pleaser! I must say, though, that I had to cook the meat 3 hours to get it tender.

I can always count on Ina's recipe! Delicious! We enjoyed it warmed up the next day just as much. I served it over cream potatoes instead of bread and it was awesome!

This is a dinner party favorite. It tastes even better the second day and the beef is also a bit more tender. Make the day before, keep in refrigerator overnight, and reheat slowly on stove top 30 to 40 mins before serving.

According to my husband this was "really good". Followed the recipe with the exception of the pearl onions because he doesn't like them, so I added more mushrooms. The garlic rubbed toast was good as well.
    Another delicious recipe.

This was delicious. However, it should be noted that this recipe takes much longer to actually prepare and cook. Overall, we spent 3.5 hours!
