Great recipe but I agree with other reviewers, needs a longer cook time. I left mine in the oven for three hours, two hours at 250 and the last hour at 325. The meat was falling apart tender and the sauce was absolutely delicious. Otherwise a wonderful recipe that I will be making often!

Ina, loved this recipe. Made it for our small group and everyone enjoyed it. I cut down on the salt and cooked for 2 hours, but did not alter anything else.

Ina...thank you....I normally attempt Julia Child's recipe...this is much easier! Using a good quality wine helps...for those that thought the wine was to overpowering....Wonderful. This recipe is in my keep it box! Thanks again Ina!

I've made this twice and it is so good. Agree with the "fall in love with it all over again" review! I'll make this a bunch.

Every time I make this I fall in love with it all over again. Just so, so, so good. I always make mashed potatoes to go with it. It's just so good! Plus, it's one of those recipes that somehow tastes better the next day, reheated out of the fridge -- on the rare occasion there are leftovers. :

Ina you never cease to amaze me! This recipe is one of my Ina's BESTS!!!!! Now everytime I have some really special guests I make this, and now also became my daughter's fiancee's fave. They're coming this weekend, and I had 2 choices for them for dinner: Dad's also fantastic rib-eye bbq, or Ina's Beef Bourguignon?? And the winner is: Ina's Beef Bourguignon!!

Easy, rich flavor. Nice for company served atop garlic croute. Not a ton of hands on time. Always a winner!

Ridiculously good!!! Try it, you'll be glad you did. Promise!! Oh, we always make 2 stews....one with beef and one vegetarian. We used to substitute fake beef for the beef, but last time we tried replacing it with extra mushrooms. It is so much better with the mushrooms cut into chunks like the beef. We prefer to serve it with Ina's mashed potatoes instead of the bread.

This dish is now a staple at our house. Really love this one. I do cut the salt in half, add a lil more flour, cook in a crock pot, leave out the pearl onions and add some frozen peas at that the end. When my daughter comes home from college, this is what she asked for! Also, serve with risotto and crusty bread.

I just finished preparing this dish, it tastes really good although I made a few changes to make it healthier (olive oil instead of butter and an extra Tbsp of tomato paste to make it thicker instead of flour. I used a crockpot on high for four hours and half the amount of liquids. Really good!!!
