I love this dressing. My executive chef husband couldn't get enough of it and said that he had to make this for his restaurant. It is true though that the longer it sits the better and if I had made it the night before it could have been better, although I don't know that could be possible! I do have to say though that it was a bit too lemony for me so I ended up adding another 2 tbsp of mayonaise. Next time I make this I will cut back on the lemon juice. Also, a couple of people asked what the "bite" was in the dressing and I told them that it was probably the garlic. I personally love garlic but it WAS bordering on "too much" so I will still add all the garlic the recipe calls for but if you don't love garlic that much you should probably cut back a little on that. All in all, this is a FANTASTIC dressing and I plan on making this again and again :-

I made this dressing today with high hopes from the other reviewers, but I found it too salty, and I am usually the type of person to salt everything. Then I thought that, well, on a salad it won't be so assertive with the salt but it still seemed pretty salty for my liking, and I used only half of the kosher salt called for in the recipe. I don't blame Ina, though, it was my own fault for not tasting all the way through. But the reason I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was not for my own salt sins but because I thought the wonderful fresh basil flavor really got kind of buried in the other ingredients. A good idea, but I just feel like it may need some revision.

I had never tried Green Goddess Dressing before I attempted Ida's recipe, so I was a little hesitant about it...but I am so glad I ended up making it for my family!! Delicious! The basil is such a fresh summery taste. Highly recommended! Thanks, Ida :

I read many of the review on this dressing. I opted not to use ANY salt. Guess what? You do not need it. I don't care if it is Kosher (or Christian, humor here folks . Anchovy paste is salty enough. There is way too much discussion in the reviews about the salt. I followed it exactly except I did use low fat sour cream. It is wonderful. There is no substitution for fresh Basil no matter what you read in the reviews. Refrigerates nicely for several days.

We do a "Community Salad Wednesday" in the summer, where everyone contributes to a large salad. One person brings the greens each week. I made this dressing -- it was gone in a flash, and then became my weekly contribution every week -- I had to double the recipe! It's a wonderful, yet still light and refreshing dressing. You will love it!

    Thanks, Ina!

I have one comment about the salt - I haven't made this recipe yet, but am planning to use it as a dip for veggies at a baby shower. I usually use Morton's Kosher Salt as my kosher salt of choice. One time, however, I bought Diamond Kosher Salt, and it was completely different. It's "saltiness", it's texture, everything about it was different. I had to re-figure out all my recipes, b/c many times they just weren't salty enough if I used the same amount as I usually used with Morton's. I found I had to use much more salt to achieve the level of flavor I wanted. So some of these people complaining about the saltiness may be using kosher salt, but a different brand than the one Ina figured her recipe with. I know for a fact that there are differences between brands. Just something to keep in mind.
