Baking this cake was a wonderful experience, my husband and daughter love having deserts especially after sunday meals. When I saw this recipe on Ina's show I just had to try it. I must admit that I didnt have cake flour and subsituted for all-purpose but it still turned out perfect. I also added flaked coconut just a the top after frosting it, was beautiful.

This cake was a great use of eggs whites left over from making creme brulee. It is so light and delicate and the chocolate ganache made from chocolate chips did not over power that delicate lightness - it enhanced the flavor. It came out perfect (as do all of Ina's recipes but it was difficult not to eat the whole cake at one sitting. Melts in your mouth yummy goodness. Thanks Ina!

This cake has the taste of Angel Food with a pleasing hint of chocolate. I like the fact that the chocolate did not overpower the cake -- that is until you put on the glaze. I used 60% cocoa chips in the glaze and applied it all over. It was too over-powering for me. Perhaps just a drizzle would have been more pleasing too my palate. With the glaze the wonderful taste of the cake is lost.

This is not what you may call a quick and easy recipe but well worth the effort and time! It was actually quite fun making it, and what a great sense of accomplishment. I made it for my mom's birthday cake. She loved it as did the rest of the family. I will make this again for a special occasion. Thanks, Ina. You are my favorite!

I admit that I was a little annoyed with all of the steps, but the results were well worth it! I made this cake for a New Years' party and it made the party! None of us could stop talking about how delicious the cake was! I even had one of the couples call me this morning to tell me they had some for breakfast!

I substituted tangerine juice and zest for the vanilla and it turned out very well. The citrus adds complexity and compliments the chocolate (I used bittersweet instead of semisweet. I also used store bought egg whites, which makes life so much easier.

While this recipe is time consuming, it is worth it to follow the recipe exactly. I made it completely from scratch and again using an angel food cake mix, adding in the grated chocolate and making the ganache myself. The quality of the cake you get with the mix does not compare with making it yourself.
