I love this recipe, and when I said I was making Brussels sprouts as a Thanksgiving side dish, I got some curious looks from my husband's family. However, they all loved it and even the kids asked for more. Success!

I like brussel sprouts, but these are delicious! I almost didnt add the raisins because I thought it sounded weird... but thank goodness I added them. The salty from the pancetta and the sweet from the raisons is perfect. I love these and will defintely be making them this Thanks giving. Thanks Ina!

Based on all the rave reviews, I thought, finally, a brussels sprout recipe I'm going to like. No such luck. While they weren't awful, I couldn't help thinking of all the fat in the recipe and decided that ingesting it wasn't worth whatever nutritional value I was getting from the sprouts.

After reading the previous post I had to run to my DVR and see if there actually was a "rodent" in the pantry. I found the episode, froze the frame and I'm happy to report that was NO rodent in Ina's pantry. It is the corner of a zip lock bag. I'm a very big fan of the show and I tape every episode.
So please, before you write a derogatory review and use words like "yuck and gross" please double-check your accusations - because in the end, it makes you look bad. You should be embarrassed!

I had only tried brussel sprouts once as a child and hated them, which I now believe was due to how they were prepared. When I saw this recipe prepared on TBC it looked so yummy I ran right out and bought some brussel sprouts. I didn't have pancetta or golden raisins so I substituted bacon and reg. raisins & it was still fantastic. I almost left out the raisins and am now very glad I didn't. This will be a new staple on my home menu.

I used cranberries instead of raisins. My husband, who thinks he doesn't care for brussel sprouts, went back for seconds. I would use a little less salt, however.

I'm new to cooking, but adventurous.
I caught the beginning of this episode and missed the end, but remembered how good the brussel sprouts looked on t.v. so by memory, I grabbed brussel sprouts, bacon & golden raisins at the grocery store(...but forgot to buy chicken broth.
I've made "this" recipe twice in the past 2 weeks. The first time was "inspired by" and the second, I took the time to find the actual recipe to check on how well I did.
Both ended up fantastic, the chicken broth is very necessary for all around flavor. The first time it was lacking..."something"....my BF and I added a few random ingredients to enhance the body of the dish... when I followed the recipe more closely, the trial & error for taste wasn't necessary.
Also - I used center cut bacon both times, the whole package, omitted the olive oil due to the amount of bacon grease in the pan *yum*, had no problem with excess bacon, as nibbling hands found the bowl of drained bacon pieces as the sprouts were cooking...you can never have too much bacon, IMHO..
And you HAVE to try it with the golden raisins..I'm not a huge raisin fan, everyone will give you excuses & looks, but they are easy to pick out if you could possibly not want them, not a single raisin or brussel sprout leaf was left in the pan....the dog was bummed.
There were some extra folks around when I made these Saturday evening, although nobody was a "fan" of brussel sprouts, or raisins, and one doesn't "do" pork,
Everyone tried some, and everyone asked for the recipe.
