Served this today for Easter and it was a huge hit. I didn't have maple syrup,so I used orange blossom honey (since the dressing had orange zest, but otherwise made exactly as the recipe says. Really, really good! I'll definitely be using this recipe again.

I made this salad tonight and we loved it! I cut this recipe in 1/2 since it was only me and hubby but made the exact amount of dressing the recipe called for since I knew I wanted more for tommorrow! We used iceberg and boston lettuce and chopped it, I also used pecans in lieu of walnuts and feta in lieu of blue cheese since that's what we had at home, I also added avocado. This is a great salad because it can be changed according to what you like or what you have, the dressing was so yummy, the fresh orange juice and zest gave it a super fresh flavor, I ate the salad and left everything else on my plate! I set out for a chopped salad that a chef made on food tv today and when I pulled up the list I saw Ina's name on this one and knew it was going to be wonderful so changed my mind and of course Ina never fails to amaze me with her awesome recipes! Thanks so much for another keeper! Bonnie
P.S. I cut back on the salt also.

I made this last night for a dinner get together with friends. Unfortunately, I didn't have the plain dijon mustard for the dressing. I substituted the dijon country mustard (coarse ground and used only 2 tsp. The dressing was so good. I also just used field greens that I had in my refrigerator. Every last bit of salad was eaten. I will definitely use this recipe again, and again.

Ina you did it again. I can always count on you for something different and refreshing. I was looking for a salad that I haven't had a hundred times before and I watched your show and thought this salad looked great. It is. My family loved it. The flavor combinations are wonderful. Will make this again. Thank you Ina

We had dinner party last night that was full of rich hearty foods (My husband had made Guy Fieriy's Aged Prime Rib and I made this salad. I-unfortunately could not find Arugala-so I used just plain old Iceberg Lettuce (since it was the freshest looking and everyone raved about the combination of flavors and textures....Oh: I had carrots and a cumber that I chopped and de-seeded and added....Yummy!

Personal reaction...enjoy the ingredients, aromas, flavors and chewing textures. I have re-made this salad BUT replaced the type of salad "lettuce". Do the recipe with spinach, baby greens, butter lettuce, mache etc.,...flavors , aromas, textures...all remain wonderful. Thanks Ina for a hard core basic. Julia Child always described her stuff as basic and caould be modified per taste or needs. You're one of the few on FoodTV still providing such educational service. THANK YOU!
