This was the first time I've ever made squash it it was wonderful!! My husband even loved it! The texture and taste were perfect. For those who rated it as "awful" not sure what went wrong but this was very good. I do agree with others that it does not take the full 55 mins to cook. The one downside: I was actualy out of breath trying to cut and peel the darn thing!!! Had no idea how hard that would be. Nevertheless I will make this again but will probably shell out the extra money for the pre-package type that is already cut up.

This is the best! Many recipe reviews say that someone who usually hated something loved whatever when that recipe was used. It never happened to me. My husband hates squash, no matter how I doctor it up. Not this time. He actually liked this! No small victory. I cooked it exactly according to the recipe. It was beautifully caramelized with a crispy crust on the sides that lay on the pan. It was on the lowest rack in the oven, which might have helped that effect along. This is a keeper. (Does Ina ever make anything that's not great?

DELICIOUS! Squash had a tasty caramelized outer crust and was wonderfully moist and tender inside. As with others, my squash was ready in about 35 minutes. Served with leftover pork loin and potatoes roasted at same time as squash.

The squash never caramelized & got crispy. It stayed mushy & soggy. As a another user reviewed on here, it was a "wet mess". I warmed them up a few days later to eat as a snack thinking it would taste better (giving it a second chance & I spit it out immediately. Squash just doesnt go well with the other ingredients as would sweet potatoes.

I made this for my husband's birthday dinner. It was absolutely delicious. I did not need to leave it in the oven for the full 45-55 minutes -- probably closer to 35-40 minutes -- just until all the squash was tender and had begun to caramelize on the edges. All of us enjoyed it. I look forward to making it again. Next time I will try the suggestion to put it into the food processor with some half & half. Great recipe!!

WOW!!!! My boyfriend requested something other than asparagus. Not knowing what to make, I went to the best place to find something. FOODNETWORK.COM
I searched "IN SEASON NOW" and found squash. Not fully knowing if he would like it or not, I read the reviews and decided I just had to try this. He got to help too, since peeling a raw squash is something I didn't know you had to have Superman muscles for. After 10 minutes of it being in the oven, my mouth started to water. I was even sneaking small bites here and there when he wasn't looking! THE MOMENT OF TRUTH....He ACTUALLY LOVED IT!!!! I will defiantly make this on a regular basis!!! Squash haters beware!!!! You will LOVE THIS RECIPE!!!

I love this recipe and make it many times! It comes out so delicious. I do find that it cooks in less time than the recipe states. I have resorted to buying the pre-peeled and cut butternut squash - it is so much easier!!

Outstanding!!! This was a big hit with my family. My husband could not get enough of this delicious squash. We have decided to add this recipe to our Holiday dinners. It far surpasses the sweet potatoes. Thank you, Ina for the best butternut squash recipe, ever!!!
