This is one of the three new recipes I tried this year for Thanksgiving. We had
thirty guests for dinner. I was a little afraid of trying this recipe as I have never cooked with celery root or fennel before, however, I was looking for something totally different and out of the box to try. All my guest were more than wiling to try this & loved it. I have had many request to share this recipe and will gladly do that. I used a food processor and was delighted with the texture of this dish. I will be making this dish again. Love the flavor, texture and taste. Thank you Ina and keep the recipes coming.

We tried this as our main veggie side this year after watching this episode. The dish does have a unique flavor - my husband really enjoyed it. I, however, found it pleasant as a bite here or there, but didn't seem to like it as a main veggie dish. This is something I would make again and I am thinking about playing with some different herbs as I just felt that something was lacking in the dish. If you haven't tried celery root before, though, this is a nice starter recipe to break in your taste buds on!! :

I made recipe as suggested but just was not crazy about it. Everyone tasted it but no one at my dinner was crazy for this recipe. I will say I made Ina's carrot and pineapple cake for dessert and everyone LOVED it. I'm sorry this one didn't work out better. Just ok for me. I will not be making this one again.

I've made several of Ina Garten's recipes and have enjoyed each one. Unfortunately I can't say the same for this dish. My husband and I love veggies prepared in a variety of ways, but this recipe was too sweet. I believe the apple cider was the culprit. In my opinion, a savory version of this dish would have been preferred.

Didn't love the recipe. Flavor was OK but consistency was off. Would have preferred a mashed potato for the same effort and time involvement. Wouldn't make it again, I just didn't care for it.

I saw this show just prior to Thanksgiving, and have made this twice already! I found it very easy to prepare and so perfect for our dinner.
I'm new to the Barefoot Contessa show, and looking forward to trying many more recipes~

I agree with the previous reviewer, who knew about celery root??
This was a fantastic dish and was definitely the star veggie of our Thanksgiving.
I don't have a food mill so I used my food processor on the "pulse" mode so that it wouldn't get too smooth like baby food. It was just right.
Loved it, loved it, loved it!!!!

This was a hit at our Thanksgiving. I must admit that I misread the recipe and used twice as many potatoes as the recipe called for, but it was delicious even so.

I'm a huge fan of Ina, but this recipe didn't work well for me as it is written. Per her instructions, I used a deep saute pan to cook all the veggies, and the potatoes and apples cooked much more quickly than the celery root. I think in the beginning, when it calls for all the veggies to be sauteed, I think it would be better to throw the celery root in the pan for a few minutes on its own to cook prior to adding the rest of the ingredients. I'm serving it tomorrow for Thanksgiving so the jury is still out as for the flavor -- it smelled wonderful while cooking -- but I did just go get ingredients for a basic mashed potato in case people don't like the celery root.

I followed the recipe exactly and the flavor was wonderful. The only change I made was to use a potato masher instead of the mill. I liked the coarse texture I got doing this. I will definitely make this again.
