Excellent!! The first time, I make it exactly as is....very good. Second time, I added green chilies for a bit of a kick and it was perfect.

Finally a GREAT corn chowder!! Leave it to Ina. Simple ingredients, a little prep & voila - SO good! Husband is on his second bowl & my child loves it. So nice to add another soup to our menu. THANK YOU, INA!!! (I cut recipe in half also. I do NOT suggest omitting the turmeric or potatoes!! All really good corn chowders I've tasted contain potatoes; it's like omitting them from clam chowder. We love the recipe as is. Mine was thin so I added cornstarch mixed with cold water (then let boil until I achieved the desired thickness.

Great Chowder...the Tumeric makes it great! I half the recipe and it's terrific....also use veggie morning star bacon for the garnish to keep it vegetarian (and Kosher.....still tastes GREAT!!!!

Excellent broth if you take the time to develop the flavors at each step. I halved overall for our family, used homemade stock, and left out the turmeric (based upon other reviews. We don't think the potatoes added anything to it - they got in the way of all of the other excellent flavors - so we'll leave them out in future. We used the best ingredients we could, such as Yancey's Cheddar, and with the modifications above it was truly a great meal served with crusty bread that can be dipped in the broth.

Perfect Christmas Eve soup to accompany Ham! Easy - just a lot of prep work. Make a big pot!

Ok I have made this twice now. The first time was totally 5 stars. I made it exactly like the recipe except that I didn't have turmeric. The second time, I bought some. Now it only gets four stars. The color is unappetizing and the flavor of the turmeric is terrible. LEAVE IT OUT! Also, it fed 9 people on two different nights for us. So only make half or plan to freeze a lot of it. Other than that one ingredient, stellar recipe!
