Fantastic recipe! I have a picky husband and a two year old at home, and both of them couldn't get enough of this. Even my eight month old loved the broth! The only things I changed in the recipe was I added a bit more corn and I added an extra cup of chicken stock because the soup was so thick (in my opinion, plus I doubled the amount of bacon and cheese and added some bacon into the soup as well as garnishing the top. Absolutely delicious :-

This recipe was wonderful! Ina never disappoints!
I made the recipe pretty much as listed, except I did cut it in half. I used one big onion, and 2 or 3 yellow potatoes. I also added some garlic when the onions were about done sautéing.
I kept the amount of cheese for the full recipe also (we love cheese
I also read some reviews about it being thinner, so I added the amount of flour listed for the full recipe, and I went and added a little more, and I used only 5 cups of chicken broth. The biggest thing I did was I added some lump crab meat to the chowder. Soooooo good! My family licked their bowls clean! My son was in love, and requested it in a thermos for lunch tomorrow. Really good flavor, and it was pretty easy IMO to make. Aside from the crab meat, it was also pretty economical. I spent about 15 bucks for the ingredients and even with half of the recipe, and have more then enough to freeze and have another night.

My family loved this recipe! I halved the recipe and we still had 10 to 12 servings. I double the tumeric and added 1 can of green chili's at the suggestion of others. I also used lower amounts of oil to cook the onions, and fat free half and half to lighten it up. Without the crumbled bacon - it was 4 watchers points. This is not a thicken clam chowder like consistentcy but delivers on the flavor

"Ina" did it again! Delicious! Yesterday and today after recuperating from HURRICANE SANDY I decided to make some soup...this chowder turned out great. I'll serve it with some crusty French Bread, Yum! Thanks again Ina...you're the best!

Great Recipe! I also added some nutmeg and cayenne pepper to give it a nice kick. I like my corn to be a little bit softer, so I would actually try to mix the half and half, corn, and cheese in another pan to make a creamed corn and then add it to the mix together.

After reading the reviews, I decided I would make the soup as written even tho I generally prefer thicker soups. I thought it was excellent and my family raved about it. The flavor was lovely and together with a glass of wine and bread it hit the spot.

This soup is sublime. It is the perfect comfort food on a cold night, with a loaf of crusty bread. Ina hit the nail on the head again.

This was sooooo good! Huge quantity FYI. But it's so good that I dont think we'll even freeze any as it'll be gone by tomorrow! Next time I would put 1/3 of the soup in a blender and then add back to soup to make it more creamy as it's a little thin and the corn is very crisp in soup... I like more creamy thick corn chowder :

This chowder is delicious! I use Hannaford's Signature Applewood Smoked Bacon for this and it adds an amazing smokey flavor that is just mmmmmmmmmm!
