This recipe has "comfort food" written all over it! The only change I made was to add about 2 cups of shredded chicken and presto--a meal in itself! One warning though...this recipe makes a TON!!! I actually had to switch pots halfway through because it was almost overflowing! If you don't have a big family, you'll be eating it all week. I ended up taking soup to my neighbors. But, as always, Ina's recipes are pretty much fool-proof when it comes to great taste.

I served this for Holloween Supper. It went of OK. But, as a left over it was great. I added 2 Tablespoons of Lousiana Hot Sauce and 1 Tablespoon of Cajun Power (spicy garlic pepper sauce. It added just the right favor and my family couldn't be stopped.

Overall, the recipe was easy to prepare and very tasty, however, the chowder itself was a little thin. I would suggest perhaps using heavy cream instead of half and half, and maybe a little more flour to thicken it just a bit.

This is a great recipe! Easy to put together and it doesn't quite taste like your regular corn chowder. Guess that's what makes it so good!
